Eklund was completely dismissing the Rangers chances the whole time, and it was obviously wishful thinking. The Flyer fan in him shown very brightly.

Glad he went to New York. If the kid turns into a star player then the Rangers will still be no threat with their weak prospect pool and zero draft picks.

At least he will get top line minutes with the rags even if he is a 3rd liner

Well its a better team then the Rangers..lol Kid was pissing me off acting like he was the 2nd coming of Gretzky but then I thought in reality its the GM's building all this hype really not him. Is what it is, who knows how good he will be. Lots of pressure on him now but would have been a nice addition for cheap for any team to snag. i want to wish him well but hey , he's a Rag now..

There certainly is a lot of resentment from Sabres fans. But it's completely absurd. I'm not sure how you get angry about a player not signing with you when:

1) the only reason you have his rights in the first place is because he refused to sign with another team, and promised to go to free agency. Had he not done exactly what happened to them (and to a lesser extent for that matter), the Sabres would never have even had the chance to sign him at all. Not that they really did, but you know what I mean.
2) is doing what is within the rules.
3) it's Buffalo.

Not that I think it will really make much of a difference in the end, at all, but they're acting like a jealous little child.

I guess it came down to want Vessey wanted:

- having a good chance to win a championship in his youth while developing behind the best players in the league? In that case he would have gone to either Pittsburgh or Chicago.
- having a potential leadership role on a young and developing team, which he may eventually become a captain/leader/star player on? In that case he would have gone to either Buffalo or Toronto.
- staying close to home? In that case he would have gone to Boston. Maybe the thought of playing on the same team as Marchand turned him off.
- irritating his hometown? In that case he would have gone to Montreal.
- being protected by a host of goons? In that case he would have gone to LA or Anaheim.
- disappearing into near anonymity? In that case he would have gone to any number of western teams, including Nashville or Dallas.
- being obnoxious? In that case he would have gone to the Flyers.
- fame/notoriety? In that case he would go to the NYR, which he did.

Since fame/notoriety is apparently want he wants then I think everyone else is better off.
