Adrian Dater saying he's choosing between the rangers and blackhawks. What happened to the devils? why is detroit too far away but chicago isn't? why, why, why? Stirring the pot.

Detroit is to far because they stink. Chicago isn't to far because they have a lot of cups. Devils apparently went to hell...

All I've heard the past couple of years is how loaded detroit is/will be with prospects, if buffalo is appealing, shouldn't detroit be?

If by that logic then isn't Montreal in the mix?

EDIT: Makes no sense. He'll go to some team at some point.

More to come...

For what it's worth - and it's not much given the way this source game has been played - I have gotten the sense that the Bruins are his third choice. Seems like NJ is a sneaky favorite (again, this could have changed), and then I'd put Chicago, then Boston. But holy poop this thing has changed three times an hour.

Might have to wait another day according to KPD, I thought the kid was supposed to do all his homework on pontential teams prior to the meetings?

He is probably just soaking in all of the attention. If he ends up being the next great college bust, this will likely be the last bit of positive attention he gets.

Serious question... why are you writing about him? Is it something your editor is asking you to cover and write new material on day to day? Is it simply the fact that it's mid August and there is nothing going on in the hockey world besides this? Is it just a matter of page views, and Vesey articles are getting a ton of clicks right now?

Just curious and trying to understand the media's side of things, and why there are so many Vesey articles being written right now.

I think it has a lot to do with the time of year and very little hockey news going around. I'm surprised he didn't post anything about our scout going to Edmonton to be their assistant GM. All media hype, feel bad for this kid.

It's a big story for a number of reasons.

One, the local connection. Two, it is August. Three, there's a ton of different angles as to why it should or should not happen for the Bruins.

Yeah... I wasn't hyped on Keith Gretzky leaving... but it's understandable if he was one of Chiarelli's guys, and they offered him a step up as an assistant GM.

I know people will love to point to the questionable picks in Frederic and Senyshyn, but I think he's guided us pretty well overall on drafting. I think he was the head scout since the 2013 draft? Or maybe it was the 2014 draft? Either way, the prospect pool looks pretty good, and that has to reflect back on him as the head scout.

You're bang on. Wanted to get something up about Gretzky, but there wasn't a whole lot of juice there. I asked around and was told, "Well, it was a promotion. So, yeah." I was also in Chicago for my first vacation in two years when it happened, SO LAY OFF.

(Just kidding, <3 you.)

Gretzky leaving is a big loss.

Like you said, people give them so much poop for the first-round 'reaches', but their drafting overall under him has been nothing short of remarkable. You watch these players up close and you'll see what I mean. Tons and tons of high-end guys in this pipeline. And they're selecting guys from programs that will polish these players into extremely intelligent hockey players, which is damn good.

So is Vesey's dad a potential for coming to Boston as the new head scout? Or scout in general? I believe someone posted something about that. Any other prospects for head scout?

Even Senyshyn has lit it up and ive heard nothing but positive things about Frederic. It kills me that people are so obsessed with "expert" draft rankings. Unless you're in the top 5 (even then sometimes) the draft is a total crap shoot. Take the guys you're comfortable with and fit your organization, not BPA. I think Bostons really stuck to this and it has resulted in some of the best drafting the last couple years if you look at the whole picture and not just "BUT KYLE CONNER OMG!!!!"

His name has been floated, but I don't know. There's not a ton of guys internally that stand out there.
