You guys really don't understand anything. Do I have to break down the whole lineup. Who's trying out. How many people can be on the roster. It's 23. Which players need to make the team or get waived. Which of those would be certain to get claimed. Who can be bought out. What if Cowen's buyout goes through. That's another spot before the season begins. It's really not that hard for the Leafs to create space and there aren't teams lining up right now to dump contracts along with picks.

The whole point is that they'd have no room and have to create room (somehow). you seem to blatantly ignore the points others are making (and the ones you've pointed out yourself )

If they are at 49 contracts that means Vesey and a goalie have been signed and they still have room to make one deal. Yes or No?

The Cowen buyout can still happen. Yes or No?

Teams who make cap dump deals have to take something back.(usually a useless prospect or a useless low paid vet or a pick swap. Worst case a pick swap like 4th for 7th that clears no contract). Yes or No?

These types of deals usually happen near the deadline. Yes or Yes?

The Leafs have too many players to fill there roster that they will have to either trade someone or lose someone to waivers. Yes or No?

If an opportunity presents itself Lou Lam could easily move a random prospect for a garbage draft pick. Yes or No?

Back to the original argument. The Leafs are not waiting to sign a goalie depending on acquiring Vesey. If they get Vesey they won't just be all like, okay Sparks it is.

I can only carry 50 apples in my basket. I've got 47 right now and 4 or 5 are rotten and I can't eat them or give them away so they have to stay. If I grab a goalie apple, which is needed, I am now up to 48 apples. If I happen to get a FA winger apple, my basket is at 49 and almost full.

Now if I stumble across an amazing #2D apple and it's stuck to 1 or 2 bad apples, there is no room in my basket. I'm screwed because I really wanted that #2D apple and because I can't unload the 4 or 5 rotten apples until the end of the year now I will have to lose some other really good apples.

I think I will wait to fill my basket to 50 once I make sure I have all the best apples I can get.
