I would never understand a reason why a hockey player wouldnt want a shot to play with Sid or Malkin. Right after a stanley cup where they lost next to nothing roster wise.

wow .5 ppg player is pretty legit. I think that he could really make an impact wherever he goes as long as he can stay healthy. I kind of almost wish the avs would kick tires on him but after the recent moves they are pretty much tight up against the cap and they dont really have room for another big contract at the moment until iginla or some of the other vets are done.

Remember a few winter Olympics ago when all of Canada's short track speed skating members had dyed their hair this silver?

A friend who was tight with several Canadian Olympic athletes told me that the reason they were all doing it was because it masked some PED.

So I'm not saying...

I'm just saying...

Explain to me how hair dye masks PEDs...I'm curious.

Drugs stay longer in the hair than in the bloodstream (many drug tests require a hair test as well as blood/urine test). It's possible that the dye could cause those metabolites in the hair to be chemically altered and therefore not register as a PED by-product.

I honestly have no idea - but my friend was friends with several gold medal winning Canadian athletes - which often made for interesting Superbowl parties.

If you google it, there's a jillion entries on how to do it to pass a drug test for work, but I can't seem to find anything for a test to pass a PED test (which is urine, not hair).

I'm just telling you want I was told.

It just seems a little weird swimmy-boy would do this just before the Olympics, no?

Until this happened, I had no idea this guy was even at the Olympics - but (frank) Phelps can swim!

I get that it would mask any traces in hair...
But it would not alter the blood and urine samples. If those were positive in addition to them altering their hair... they would have grounds to deem it a failed test.

Absolutely it will change a hair test. Still don't see how it changes urine or blood analysis though.

EDIT: Not saying I don't believe you... it just seems far fetched.

Of course - it's really just to cover for that time frame when it would have been fully metabolized within the blood/urine, but not within the hair. If it's in the blood/urine then whoever is (frank)ed anyway...

Don't worry, I'm not going to take offence.

I'm just passing along what I heard, but I honestly have no idea if it is true or not.

But the (two degrees of separation) source is pretty good - these people would have had to pass multiple IOC drug tests.

I'm just wildly guessing here, but I think it would be a masking agent - so you introduce some sort of harsh chemical into your system, which sorta kinda "paints over" the PEDs.

You know I'm not a chemist, right?

Because only d-bags study chemistry.

Is it even in the IOC’s interest to catch all the cheaters? I would think not.

In any event, your unproven circumstantial evidence does have me fully convinced lochte is a ped user.

Oh yeah, what was it you said about sources earlier? I can’t seem to recall…

Presumably they are smart enough to have the steroids out of their system before the competition, It'll take way longer for the hair to be steroid free.

Surely they would have to suspect steroids in order to go to the extent of a hair folicle test.

So you are getting this vibe from your Toronto people that they are lying, and that it could be 100% already in the bag.

However at the end you don't have them in your final four, or even as a dark horse like Buffalo.
