While I do not buy into this, yes, we have a lot of defense and most of them have to play. I think Hakstol likes Manning too much not to play him.

I would trade Streit. It's only what I would do.

still embarrassing for the flyers organization to not even get an invite to talk to him imo.

meh...I want no part of that kid and his issues

You want no part of that kid, unless the flyers got him, then you'd be all over it..

Flyers should have more cap space than that article quotes but even so I don't suspect there will be a need to move any of the defensemen until closer to the mid point of the season. Schultz, Manning, Macdonald or even Streit can find themselves in the press box if they don't perform. The 6 best D men in Hakstols eyes will have starting jobs. Injuries, attrition and competition will take care of the rest.

Provy sticks. AMac sent down. The salaries work.

I'm sure someone could get traded too, but it makes much less sense, unless it is Schultz, but I imagine they'd prefer to keep him.

The salary cap information is inaccurate. The Flyers have a little over 1M in available cap space, with 14 forwards and 7 defenseman counting. They would have no problem fitting in Provorov if they decide to keep him. They have multiple options available to them, to make that happen.

That's normally the case, we'll see what happens. They didn't keep the best 6 defenseman last year.

This is true I just popularized it.

No joke though- didn't see your original comment. It's like calculus...made up at the same time, unaware of the other.

One thing with Vesey.

He isn't the one running around making these articles. Spoiled or not, he has decided has wants to take his time in choosing which team he thinks is best to join for his future.

Media needs something to talk about and drum up hits instead of doing actual journalism.

(frank) em all.

Cap aside, I want Provorov and Gostisbehere to play every night if healthy. I also want the opportunity of calls ups from young guys in the minors if need be.

Streit
Schultz
Provorov
Del Zotto
Gostisbehere
Gudas
MacDonald
Manning

Morin
Hagg
Sanheim

I know they'll be plenty of opportunity but if anyone seems ready much sooner than later or an under the radar player surfaces, everyone deserves a shot.

Hextall has said multiple times, that if a young player is ready to play in the NHL, he will make the room. There are no road blocks on the Flyers that will prevent young players from making the jump. The only thing that will stop them, is if Hextall thinks they're ready or not.

Certainly worked for Lombardi, and his protege is Hexy. I think the majority of Philly fans are giving Hextall proper rope because of this. We can see the results. The team may not be much better, but man that prospect pool went from an absolute joke to quite formidable.

Started with defense (smart) because it takes longer for them to mature, and then went all out on offense this year with a few goalies thrown into the mix. The trade down in order to add LaBerge in addition to still snagging Rubtsov was gutsy, but well worth the potential upside. Most analysts loved his savvy, there.

I hate to sound like a homer as I try to keep an even head about my team's moves, but so far I'm on board. Hextall has earned my trust and patience.

- Hesh_

I think in a few years, when the kids have matured, it will be NJ and Philly battling it for tops in division. By then, Hank will be done in NY, Pitts already blew their load and the Isles will always be Isles.
