Certainly worked for Lombardi, and his protege is Hexy. I think the majority of Philly fans are giving Hextall proper rope because of this. We can see the results. The team may not be much better, but man that prospect pool went from an absolute joke to quite formidable.

Started with defense (smart) because it takes longer for them to mature, and then went all out on offense this year with a few goalies thrown into the mix. The trade down in order to add LaBerge in addition to still snagging Rubtsov was gutsy, but well worth the potential upside. Most analysts loved his savvy, there.

I hate to sound like a homer as I try to keep an even head about my team's moves, but so far I'm on board. Hextall has earned my trust and patience.

That sort of projection isn't even in the same universe of the reality of today's NHL, unless one is talking about the EA Sports version.

Meltzer's read on Vessey is simple and clearly the most sane accounting of the situation I have seen. I think he will be really good, a good addition to whatever team he chooses. Only 41 players scored 60 points last year. 8 teams did not have a 60 point scorer. If he hits 50 points that would be a great year. The fact that this is dragging on for so long causes the buildup and makes it seem like he is going be a Stamkos, Crosby, Kane, or Ovechkin from the first day he steps on the ice. I do not think so.
