I don't think it's going to be that awesome. There's no real prestige to gain for the players to risk getting injured before the season. I think this tournament will be a sham.

It looks like what the big bad team that never loses, but shuns sportsmanship, would wear in a hockey movie.

Don't worry though - our plucky underdogs will find a way to beat them and show them what really matters.

Also, I get that the big 6 teams are a shoo-in but they need some kind of qualifying structure regardless, much like the World Cup. And that'll help populate the remaining two spots with worthy teams.
