as much as i would hate it this is where he should sign - bulet13
I think it's pretty obvious, but we really have no idea what his priorities are. All I've heard is he wants to be near home on a contender. Pittsburgh isn't exactly next door to Boston, but it's a short flight.
Who knows. I still believe he'll end up in Boston.
I understand the sentiment of going home, but you have to wonder if the pressure and media will be tough on him should he struggle. In Pittsburgh, the media is pretty docile. |

You may be right, but if he's worried about media/fan pressure, he probably knows he will be the same type of player, as say jimmy hayes, who apparently has been in his ear during this whole time period, according to joe haggerty. |

What makes this seem like the best course of action when asked politely to move on by a mod? |

Yes Tessier - The Leafs did add a "Taylor Hall" in some guy named Matthews
Matthews+Marner+Nylander trumps Hall+Zacha as far as last few acquisitions |

Shouldn't you include Michael McLeod in that little analysis. You seem to be shorting us a guy. |

We hope they do. Hall is a really great player, and our big 3 have either never played in the NHL or have limited experience (Nylander). We hope they will be a trio of superstars, but there's no way to know, sadly. |

Why would he ever sign with the Devils? I get they made an absolute steal on the taylor hall trade, but they're still not even close to being a real contender. Henrique could be a good 2C, no way he's a 1C. Palmieri had a great season and I think he's a good player but nothing elite. Realistically the best choices would be PITT or CHI to win now, or if he wants a core to be a part of from here on the Leafs or Sabres would be the best shot. |

-Because they have the best goalie in hockey arguably, in his prime.
-They have three 30 goal scorers age 26 or younger already.
-Taylor Hall locked up for four more years at age 24.
-New ownership and a GM who has killed it so far and sped up the rebuild bigtime with moves for Palmieri and Taylor Hall in just two seasons.
-A fanbase that although is limited in size due to our proximity to NYC and Philly, realizes that 13 years without a Stanley Cup is unacceptable due our culture and history of winning. We don't accept mediocrity and won't allow our team to go 30 or 40 or 50 years without a cup like most teams. There is a lot of pride and passion in NJ that other fanbases aren't aware of and mock constantly.
-A world class arena minutes from NYC.
I'll stop, but there is a lot of draw to the Devils. Especially since he wants playing time and a top 6 role which he will likely get in NJ. He's a quiet kid that doesn't like the spotlight or pressure so I've read. What better place for that than NJ who flys under the radar every year? Won't bash other teams but NJ has a lot to offer that fans of other teams don't understand. |

I have a weird feeling he's going to the Devils. He seems like a small town kinda guy, and NJ is a small market team thats still close to Boston. He will have top 6 minutes right away, and the Devils have tons of money to give him a good second contract if he performs well. |

If you have just crawled out of a cave I really can't help you, but I'll give you a quick synopsis.cBuffalo and Tor have pulled all out rebuilds and stacked young players with high 1st round picks and are in progressive stages of rebuilding. They are both poised to finish many points higher than last year and compete for wildcard spots.
Philly and NJ have been stuck at borderline playoff contention for several years. They have not significant improved their teams through the draft and with the rise of young teams may take a step back this year. NJ traded for a solid forward but still lacks depth and firepower. Philly has not done much.
You'll have to wiki the rest and checkout life. - jackzack87
The Devils will finish with more points than both Buffalo and Toronto this upcoming season. It's funny how much Buffalo fans LOVE their team. |
