Careful getting the broccoli band off - don't rush it.

I shamefully admit that when the Jays went down 6-0 last night I was already gearing up to come on here today and be like "see! THIS is what's killing me!"

I wouldn't be surprised if leafs want to stay how they are and see how Carrick does before acquiring another dman they would have to protect and lose Carrick in the expansion draft unless they move Gardiner in a deal, which would be sweeeet.

Rielly is better atm and has more of an opportunity to grow. However, Trouba had the toughest zone starts on the Jets and the least PP opportunities and still produced well.

If they could get him, the Leafs would be set.

I kind of wish the RFA scenario for Trouba was playing out next summer. Then we could have seen what we had in a bunch of players and I'd be much more confident (or I possibly less) in throwing an offer sheet out there.

Or carrick is part of the deal for a dmam

Leafs might be able go with 4 forwards and 4 dmen protected for the expansion draft too.

I honestly don't see a deal for Trouba with Toronto. The Leafs just don't have the cap space. Winnipeg would want a young defenseman with roughly equal talent. Reilly is what it would cost. Unless he just doesn't want to play for the Jets anymore. In that case, Winnipeg would be forced to take the best offer. I do think though, that the Leafs could make the best offer.

I think with who the Leafs will protect, I don't expect them to lose anyone of real value

I'm actually pretty excited to see what Carrick can do this season. Was impressive when he came over. Expansion draft should make some things interesting next off season..

I believe this is an issue for him as well with the Jets (with the money involved of course).

Think they'll use him on the powerplay a little more next year? The few times he got placed there he was doing pretty well.

Only way I see it working is this (even though its a stretch):

Tor: Dman worse than Trouba + Forward equal to or better than Trouba

for

Wpg: Trouba + middle of the prospect pack forward

I think the Hall/Larsson deal kind of set a bit of a bad precedent for over-payments.

Nope.

1. Big Buff runs the PP
2. Maurice likes LH/RH so Enstrom often plays the other point
3. For some reason people still think Tyler Myers is good at scoring
4. Morrissey is coming in at LD as well and is an offensive defenseman and needs PP time

I have to admit too - I was feeling pretty frustrated that the Jays made that rookie, then Pineda look like Nolan Ryan out there... but then the Russ and Tulo show happened. That's baseball, man.

Pretty sure that RFA's are exposed to the expansion draft... That's why Zaitsev signed 1 year deal so we don't lose him in expansion... Carrick is only signed to a 1 year deal then will be RFA. So we can protect Rielly, Gardiner and one other

EDIT: pretty sure they are NOT exposed

I just don't see a deal to be made for the Leafs right now. Things could change but I think you see more or less the same team a year from now minus some bodies.

Vegas will take Matt Martin and like it!

I should've added the frustration was a continuation of the last game too. Letting Thole bat in the top of the 9th!

(Although the Yankees made some weird choices that game too)
