Plus with the expansion draft coming (only protect 3 dmen) it might be better to wait until next summer and see how the chips fall this year. If Carrick comes good they'll need to protect him, Gardiner and Rielly.

Great LW scoring right there with an added serviceable 3rd pairing with deadline asset and a prospect with potential.

The peg has a hard time getting players to play for there team so your not likely to get I high end winger through free agency. Jvr's contract fits perfectly with the big buff winning window, if such a thing exists.

If you hit homeruns, statistics show that you (more often than not) cause your opposition to find weakness in their current game, and as such, make necessary changes which otherwise would not have taken place should they simply allow more base runs.

Agreed. There's not many players in the lineup you want to bunt or hit and run with. At the same time, I think the coaching staff should be getting the K masters like Smoak and Bossman Jr. to change their approach to try and put the ball in play in certain situations like runners on 2nd&3rd with <2 out.

You never know. Look at chychrun (not even top 10), sergachev, provorov, hannifan, etc

All of those defensemen could have or did play on their rookie year IMO.

Yeah I agree but rookie season would probably be sheltered and what not. If leafs can improve this season and fall somewhere in the 6 to 10 spot and have a dman as the bpa there that would be alright and the following season maybe improve to a bubble team, probably miss the playoffs again but hopefully at least be in the running. As long as the team is improving and the young guys are taking on bigger roles and getting better things will be going good. I have no problem with them selling rentals at the deadline again
