I'm skeptical about Weise. He bad a good season with the Habs, followed by a trade to the Hawks where he was less than valuable to practically a dynasty team. I get this situation. Weise doesn't feel the Habs made a fair offer, so he moved elsewhere. I have no problem with this. However, if fans are gonna use the system excuse, how Weise didn't work in one of the most effective systems in the past 7 seasons, I'm a little concerned. The Flyers are all about system play these days. Also Weise played for a very fragile Habs team that couldn't win without one of the best goalies in the league healthy, in net and playing for them. This cannot be placed square on the shoulders of Weise but he was in that locker room and wanted to go back. - roenick97
Roster depth had a huge impact on usage in Chicago. That team is stacked compared to Montreal. Here he will be another Raffl type. He'll move up and down depending on health of the team. I'd say look more at the Montreal Weise than the Chicago Weise.
As for Weise and term vs Streit and term you are comparing people with 10 years age difference. Weise don't have Streit's wear and tear on him. A four year deal is fine now for a 28 year old Weise vs a 4 year deal for a 34 (at the time) Streit. |

Exactly
Plus we don't know if there were any other factors involved. He may not have liked playing in Montreal or playing for Therien. There may have been personal issues or it could have just been about money. There is no way to know the whole story unless the player chooses to make his reasons public, and that happens very rarely. - BiggE

Chicago seems to have "their guys" and Q seems to play those guys into the ground. I wouldn't base too much on what Weise did in Chicago.
Also.....Weise's AAV is also lower than Streit's by half. Apples and bowling balls, when comparing Weise's contractual situation to Streit's. |

I think he was more worried about Weise at the end of the 4 year deal than he was speaking on AAV when he mentioned Streit. Which term isn't as much an issue when you are considering 32 vs 38 at the end of the deal...
And yes Q did seem to tend to roll the top 2 lines more than the bottom 2. But who wouldn't with those 2 lines. |

I can see Wiese being an effective player for the Flyers, and a fan favorite. |

I have no prejudgement on Wiese. I've seen him play and he can fit very nicely in our roster. Q definitely had a overuse of Toews/Hossa and Panarin/Kane going. Hakstol rolls lines more which should benefit Wiese.
and BTW

Agreed. If he thinks he's playing the second line, he's cray cray. - roenick97

Maybe he's confident he can earn a 2nd line spot. woulndt be cray cray if he earns the spot with a great camp or if there's chemistry found with linemates |

Wait wait wait...
You're trying to tell me that he got multiple offers from other teams that were the same/about the same money-wise from the Flyers? Sounds like all of those teams like to overpay for bums like Weise, which can't be the case; only the Flyers make bad signings. |

While I don't see Wiese being a regular on the 2nd line, Hakstol is going to be looking for balance through the lineup, which could mean Wiese could see some time in the top 6. |

Raffl could play on any of the top 3 lines, so we'll see where he slots.

Raffl can also play center, and I wouldn't be surprised if Wiese plays some on the left side, even though he is traditionally a RW. Injuries also can happen. |
