So if this team isn't good enough, we are chalking it up to bad luck?
- sbroads24

No, but if this team had good luck you have a different team with him having done nothing and the same talk isn't being said. The team is better than last year. Last year's team was decent. Let's watch what they do

LOL Oh OKAY!!! He must be weighing offers from all 32 teams since his services are in such high demand then!

I could see us switching Reinhart and Okposo just so that line is not ALL youth. Reinhart played very well on ROR's wing last year as well.
- JVince11

Potato, tomato. I still like that top 6 and actually like most of that top 9. That'd be a team I'm happy to go into the season with.

Only 30 teams right now... But we don't know what's happening with him. Could be he's the one waiting and considering other things.

I don't know anything about his game so I can't comment.

Franson was a late signing too. And that defenseman is still out there now.

While i don't think that is the case, i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of teams are waiting to see how this Vesey thing goes... a lot of the teams in the race NEED the cheaper option as you're prolly not getting Hudler on a two year deal under 3 mil

No one is offering a 5 or 6 year deal to a 32 year old. He's waiting for Vesey to sign and then will see if offers increase. But he would be the best LW'er on the team. That wouldn't be a debate

Why doesn't it? What more are you wanting? You have a solid 1st line (That I would switch to Kane instead of Hudler), a 2nd line that can also score, a 3rd line that you forgot to add Ennis to, a 4th line with good 4th line players (and Moulson). Your defense was 16th best in the league last year with your 6th defenseman as your 2nd D. You played most of last year with a career backup.

Again, what more do you want us to do? There's no big fix out there right now. If Murray had been lucky and gotten Ekblad, McDavid, and Stamkos would you be happy? Because nothing he did stopped us from getting them.

With your guys I would do it as:

Kane-ROR-Okposo (Big line. ROR makes players better)
Vesey-Eichel-Reinhart (Young, hopefully has chemistry again.)
Hudler-Ennis-Moulson (Hoping Ennis and Moulson together work again)
Foligno-Larsson-Gionta (Played well last year. D-lo on deck for injury)

That's a solid team. With a defense that is already improved why can't they challenge for an extra 14 points?

- Zschalberg

Moulson, Gionta, Ennis and Foligno are borderline NHLers at best at this point of their careers.

The blueline looks porous.

Nilsson is not a serviceable backup and Lehner is both unproven and injury prone.

I could see the team regressing as it currently looks.

If we get Hudler doesn't look like we also get Vesey and vice versa. That leaves a spot open for Girgensons to stay on the team as a Moulson-Girgensons-Ennis line.

I'd offer a 2 year 5.5MM deal.

Which is probably what he's waiting on.

If people remember, Franson had offers from multiple teams, chose Buffalo. That was in August.

Saw you posted a pic on FB. Thought it might have been a damp t-shirt. You pup is getting big . My mom's dog is 120# and eats everything. Ate the grill LP hose 3 times. Wheels off the grill. Picket fence is missing about 8' . Took the gutter off the side of the house . I think it is part goat.

Ennis scored at a .5 p/g pace last year and you have 0 idea how, if at all, the injury will affect him. So there's that. Not to mention we got 81 points without him in the lineup for 3/4 of a season so not sure how adding him will make us regress

Foligno is a 4th line player who plays well as a 4th line player. He's not a 2nd line power forward.

Gionta, again, is on your 4th line. Is our 4th line suddenly the difference between 81 and 95 points?

Your "porous" defense is improved from last year. The defenseman in your 2nd spot last year, playing against guys like Crosby and Kane and McDavid and Stamkos is now in the 6th spot playing against competition much more suited to his skill set at this point. That defense last year went 16th in the NHL in goals against. 16th. With Johnson as their starter for 40 games. I'm sorry, show me where the defense got worse. At all. With a healthy Lehner who can actually work out this summer.

Show me one area where this team got worse other than backup goaltender. This team's scoring will be higher by adding Okposo and the growth of Eichel and Reinhart. The defense is better. The team has been playing under the same system. They actually have at least 1 player who can score shootout goals.

If the plan is to keep Nylander in the AHL, Hudler on a 1 year deal would be fine, 2 year deal ok

ennis, girgens, the vesey crap and moulson are the wild cards right now

I'm good with it. If 2 of the 4 of those guys produce more than last year we've improved. I'm holding out a sliver of hope for Moulson.

Nah they're regressing. Adding good players and good players growing and getting better means that we get worse, didn't you get the memo?
