A year in Rochester for both Fasching and Nelson will really help their development.

Agreed. Let's not rush. I'd also like to see Nylander in the AHL but not sure of his situation. Rochester will have a lot of younger talent this year.

Bailey, Baptiste, Schneider, Carrier, Fasching, Nylander*, Nelson, O'Dell?. Not sure if I'm missing anyone. Only thing I see is we have a lot of wingers and only one center who is any good in Schneider.

Other than a few nice shifts at the beginning Fasching looked ticketed to Rochester. It couldn't hurt to send Nelson down but he sure looked like an NHL defenseman to me.

Unless he's so good at camp that you can't send him down I think his best place to start is the AHL. You bring him up if he's ready and he's the 1st or 2nd callup. From what I've personally seen I like Bailey over Nylander right now. Bailey's speed, size, and tendency to drive to the net would be nice on a 3rd line with the likes of Ennis and Girgensons/Moulson.

That said, if Nylander comes to camp and is lighting it up you keep him up here and put him next to Jack and now Jack has his sniper. I just don't want to stunt his growth

Real question, If Vesey signs does he do the prospect tournament? He's technically still a "prospect". Reason I ask is the tournament is between us, Boston, and New Jersey.

I bet you start Nelson in the AHL. He looked fine last year but Fasching did too and he'll be expected to go to the AHL. Let him play more minutes and get the call-up if he's ready.

If Guhle can't go to the AHL I say keep him up. He'll learn more playing in the NHL for 10-15 minutes a night than he will playing 22 in the CHL.

- Zschalberg

He can't, just looked him up - he's only played 3 seasons in the WHL and he won't be 20 this calendar year/before the season (not sure which matters on age 20 overall, but doesn't matter in his case since it's not til July)

Agreed. I only saw him at the tail end of the prospects camp so he was pretty gassed. Bailey had already done at least one of those so he knew what to expect and still had wheels when I saw him.

If anything Nylander would help a Sabres team that had less than what, 10 goals in the shootout?

That's what I figured, seemed too early. Hope he plays himself onto the team.

Gotcha, thanks. Not even sure if it's hockey, but thought there was a rule somewhere about some earlier (in my head I keep thinking September) cutoff...but who the hell knows.

Nah, it was an age thing..and I haven't paid attention to baseball in over a decade, so not that. No big whoop, just some nagging thing that always makes me question the Junior eligibility.
