I'll never understand why. Palmeri could be a one year wonder. Hall is set to play with Henrique. Border line playoff team. When you could play with the likes of Crosby, Malkin, Toews, Eichel, or O'Reilly why New Jersey haha
- Pegullaville

Palmeri isn't a one year wonder. He was put in good situation to produce. Same thing that happened with Stempniak. Quality player given a real opportunity by a coach who has a reputation for developing talent. He might not break 30 goals every year but he plays the game the right way and gets his scoring chances.

So to Vesey being put in a situation to develop and succeed is important to him and that was the sales pitch. Same thing with Corey Schnieder. Lots of talent but given a real opportunity and now he's among the best in the league.

I get the attraction of playing with big names but the attraction is for Vessey to develop into a big name. Not ride along.

Newark isn't a sexy destination but there are some very good attributes to the team. Really good coaching staff and Shero has been doing a great job.

NYC and an airport to go home to Boston are just minutes away.

Not saying the Devils are getting this guy but if you don't get the attraction (which is obviously there because we were invited to be on the short list) you just don't know much about the organization.

The Devils in the east are like the wild in the west. Will make the playoffs every year but don't have the talent to take them over the top, nor aren't bad enough to finish bottom 5 if they were to miss the playoffs. Forever stuck in purgatory.

Free agency gets worse and worse every year. Lots of cap space to sign mediocre players.

It is amazing 1,400 over 2 days (I think)
Imagine ( play John Lenon's "Imagine" in you head) ...when the Sabres win the cup in 3 years...maybe 2 if luck is on our side.

But not enough room to sign the better players that are triple the salary/cap hit.

It's called the shore. As in nice sandy beeches to the Ocean. Sandy hook is a smaller version of Cape Cod. Atlantic city for gambling. Salt Water Taffy mother(frank)er!

The Jets and Giants are nearby and a couple of baseball teams if you like that stuff.
All nearby. Plus a horse track and home to the Sapranos!

some recent chatter:

Mike Harrington ‏@BNHarrington 35m

I'm hearing this as well. #Sabres far more alive than I felt they were when week began.

ProHockeyRumors sums up all the chatter from "alleged" sources.

Those with an inside source within the Vesey meetings and mullings have not been shy about reporting their thoughts. Sportsnet’s Howard Berger says not to be surprised if Vesey signs with the Maple Leafs, but also warns that Buffalo is very much still in the mix. Mike Grinnel of ESPN New Hampshire confirms the theory of colleague Jimmy Murphy that the New Jersey Devils are leading the chase. DJ Bean of Boston’s WEEI hears that the Bruins excelled in their meeting with Vesey and are still considered major contenders, counter to cross-town rival Joe Haggerty of CSN New England who said that Boston is all but out. Many have become skeptical of the Penguins ability to sign Vesey, having just re-signed Matt Cullen and reportedly having reached an agreement with another college free agent, Notre Dame’s Thomas DiPauli. All is quiet on the NYC front as well, with both the Islanders and Rangers considered strong contenders, but little chatter to support either’s position. Perhaps the most accurate “insider information” out there is the Chicago Tribune’s Chris Kruc’s take on Vesey and the Blackhawks, that they are just waiting for a decision from the Harvard star and that no known pecking order is in place.

Just don't exert too much energy during the game because he'll have to run to his car afterwards.

We drafted Larsson at #4 after winning the lottery. We've traded for Scnieder, Palmeri, and Hall. We've been pretty quiet in Free Agency but have a lot of cap room. We'll pickup some distressed assets from some cap crunch teams and gain picks by pimping LTIR space. There is more then one way to skin a cat and build a hockey team.

I'll admit That I haven't watched a Devils game in awhile, but holy crap enough with the trap and left wing lock style of boring hockey. Hopefully the team has moved away from that, I'd rather watch paint dry under water.
