After this whole ordeal, could you see the NHL requiring kids committed to college declare when they will enter the draft? On that note, could you see a football player deciding to go back to school because they didn't want to play for the team that drafted them? - adambuffalo
The rules are different for the NFL, once you've declared yourself eligible you're no longer considered an amateur athlete. At least that's what I got out of an article I read years ago. My memory may be spotty on that subject. But I do know the rules are very different.

That's correct. Once a football player enters the NFL draft, he is no longer eligible to play NCAA football. Players also are not eligible for the NFL draft until they are three years removed from high school. Technically, a player is not even eligible for the draft unless he has used up all his college eligibility. Players that have not used up all their eligibility but wish to enter the draft must apply to the NFL for approval to enter the draft.
NHL and NFL (and NBA and MLB, too) draft eligibility rules are not really an apples to apples comparison. I'm not sure they are close enough to even be a fruit to fruit comparison.

I did a skype interview once....there were five of them on the other end and I tried so hard to look into the camera so it presented the illusion of eye contact, but I noticed 90% of the time none of them were even trying to look my way. I even saw one jerk looking down at his phone while I was answering a question. Very disheartening.
