Yes but those guys are earning real money. He'll be on an ELC. Any endorsement money is relatively significant. He's already turned himself from a fairly irrelevant 3rd round pick to this dog and pony show. Maybe he's got a marketing plan moving forward.

Toronto seems like the best market for endorsements. It's we're hockey players get the most attention... So that's my guess. I'm sure there are other factors involved but I think this is a biggie. I'm not arguing. It's just conjecture and guesswork. Only Jimmy knows the real score.

10% is 10%, whether a 900k ELC or a $9M Subban deal

I can't believe nothing is out yet at all.

I would hope that some information should start trickling out tomorrow.

Anyone in the know have any info?

He should worry about actually playing the games cause from what limited action I have seen he ain't getting major endorsement money.

He'll sleep on it tonight, discuss it with his agents tomorrow. my take:

Buffalo, well yes
NJ - no, it is NJ
NYR, NYI, TOR - quiet kid doesn't need the big city lights
PIT, CHI - farther from Boston and not great opps for the 2nd contract
BOS - that's asking for a lot of pressure to rescue a gteam going in the wrong direction

Yes, very few endorsement dollars in the NHL, I would concentrate on making my money playing the game, just my opinion. It's not just for Vesey I guess, really fits for 99% of the league.

incorrect - he didn't pick Nashville cuz it's too far from Boston. He'll get endorsements anywhere. Hus biggest upside is getting a lot of playing time on the wing with a great center. This leads to securing the bonus and getting a grrat 2nd contract. Whom can offer this and afford the 2nd contract. There's one team.
- turbo044

Devils are in the best cap situation but the islanders have the best center.

Yes to Tavares, 4 of the top 8 teams are fine cap wise

But the actual dollars aren't. If Jimmy scores $1M in endorsements it's more then his ELC salary (without bonuses). If Subban scores $1M in endorsements is 11%. Obviously Suppan is a higher profile player but he will ironically be in Nashville...

The max he can make is 10%, so he could not get a $1mil endorsement deal.

Interesting to hear someone with some access say they think Buffalo or NJ are real possibilities this late. He kind of slipped that in at the end...

I think this endorsement talk is overrated. Who gets a million in endorsements? I can't see Geico paying Nicklas Backstrom for doing that stupid commercial. The best Vesey can hope to be early on in his career would be Johnny Hockey. How much money is Johnny Hockey getting in endorsements? Would he really get more for playing in NYC vs, Calgary? And if the answer is yes, then I would think cost of living should be a factor too. I thought there was talk that Briere wanted to go somewhere where he could potentially get more money in endorsements than he would in Buffalo. I can't remember him in a national commercial when playing for the Flyers. The NHL isn't the NFL.

Agree, mentioned both teams twice. Better than not being mentioned at all. Would Vesey play on the top PP for the Sabres? Vesey, ROR and rein with Eichel and Risto up top? I'm sorry, but this is actually getting exciting!

From an endorsement perspective, I don't see Vesey doing well in Toronto. Austin Matthews, Marner and Nylander are all ahead of him. Throw in Reilly as well. As Big Stew pointed out, I think he actually needs to score a goal and perhaps bag a few assists first before he needs to worry about $multi million dollar endorsements.

I hope you are right turbo. However, as the old saying goes "hope for the best but plan for the worst". I assume Murray and co have a plan B if Vesey doesn't sign in Buffalo.

I agree, just stating that.

Vesey will sign with Buffalo! (Hopefully, lol)

Yeah I agree. He has a lot of good options, he really does. Buffalo is the best one, and I'm confident he chooses us, but, nobody really knows. He prob doesn't know yet as his head is spinning. He's really impressed/enticed by Buffalo. The Sabres have handled the courting of him perfectly

Not to mention the fact he's not a "good Canadian boy" as per Don Cherry could have him beat up on Coaches Corner when things aren't going well for the Leafs. Just sign with the Sabres and get this charade over with.

I find it odd he was -14 this year.
- BigStew

very good puck moving d men are prone to

1. being on the ice for a shortie (-1)
2. being on the ice trying to tie the game and the other team gets an empty netter (-1)

It would really be nice if Buffalo won something and signed Vesey
