Just looked on CapFriendly and with Moulson and Ennis and Risto and Girgensons and all of that I still see us being fine as far as the salary cap next year. Only way we'd have to lose salary is if we're trying to add a new piece but if we're adding another piece we'd have to drop a piece anyways.

Again, why are we complaining about the cap hit of any player if the cap hit isn't stopping us from doing anything? We get to the point where we're about to lose a player because of cap and I'll join in but until then it's arguing over an arbitrary number.

So let's trade him in 12 months. There's no guarantee that Nylander is making the team. Let Ennis play this year, get some points, and then trade him when his value is higher.

I've also said many times that Ennis could be a good 3rd line scoring center. Roll 3 scoring lines instead of just 2 and try to play the matchup game. He has speed and can put up points. A 3rd line of Girgensons-Ennis-Bailey would work for me while you have those 6 guys above him. It's a more expensive 3rd line but if you're dropping Gionta and Franson next year and replacing some higher paid players with people on ELCs you can potentially swing it. If you can, great. If you can't then you trade him.

I'm fine with trading him. I won't agree that he's a bad player, worse than Moulson, or that he needs to be traded lest he taint the team.

That's a valid point. On the other hand, teams might be trying to replace anything that they lost and we could potentially have more takers.

In 2 years Ennis will have 1 year left and hopefully be easier to move. Same with Moulson for a buyout.

It's definitely coming, but we at least have some options. Also, as much as I like him as a player I don't expect Kane to get a contract extension without having a great year and staying out of trouble.

It's a better thing to worry about than worrying how to get to the floor, eh?

I'm more concerned with upgrading the D and getting Franson out of the lineup, guy skates like he's towing a house.
