Most of them have been saying all summer they think he will be a bust, and that he would have to earn a spot....my problem with that attitude is that I doubt any gm has promised him guaranteed playing time, and V knows he will have to perform no matter where he goes, but that should be taken for granted.

TO fans are NOT keen on ncaa players or Hobey winners either.

But really has anyone seen him play?

- LandlordTom

I think his status is somewhat overblown because of his age. If memory serves me I recall seeing some scouts say that when he signs he will be rank somewhere in the 20's or 30's in terms of the overall rankings. He gets coverage because he would essentially be a free add for someone.

Because you're a die hard fan. It has to matter somewhat, unless you just say it doesn't to soften the blow when he signs elsewhere.

We need a LW to slot in next to Jack. Vesey has been playing w/ Jack for a few years now. He's big, fast, and can score. I'd take a gamble with 1 of my 4 3rd round picks.

That is the thing....We have been justifying what gmtm has done in countless blogs for weeks. I am trying to change the narrative to the actual player instead of the process of getting him.

Right, and he is already "developed" and ready to go out the the gate supposedly. Is his ceiling Keith Tkachuk or more like Dave Legwand if he pans out?

He has really turned into a "power forward type" player his last 2 years in college.

He dedicated himself to fitness and to become a student of the game.

He is probably going to be a 2nd line LWer when it is all said and done. Not prime time first line LWer but a good 2nd line LWer.

Die hard fan has nothing to do with it, this team will be good with or without him. Doesn't matter to me if he sign s here or not.

I'm more concerned with upgrading the D and getting Franson out of the lineup, guy skates like he's towing a house.

If the whole Vesey thing doesn't work out, and he's healthy, Ennis would be intriguing. If he can grasp an actual hockey system, instead of the "go out there, and try hard" that he was used to w/ Nolan..... a lot of ifs I know, but he's fast, and can score, might be a good fit. He was only around for the learning curve part of last season.

why do we want to hold onto another player that slacked in strength and conditioning once they got paid?

serious question

that is exactly what has been wrong with this team for 8 or 9 years, pay a player big money then they slack

If Mr. Harvard man is so smart, why would he want to talk with the Rangers ? team is on the downhill. The Sabres and Leafs are teams on the rise.

His trade value probably sucks due to the concussion. He has shown that he can play. Professional or not, playing on a "tank" team for 2 years has to wear on your motivation a little. Now that he has some talent around him..... we'll see.
