I still like the attempt. Of course I'd rather have a 3rd than lose it but I like that we took a pick that we had a good amount of and tried to turn it into a roster player.

You have to think he's got a good idea of where he wants to go and probably did before all of this started. You got your chance to not only talk to him but also show him the city and the harborcenter and have Jack talk to him all summer. You did the best you could do so you're 100% right when you say we were able to do more than a what, 2 hour presentation at max.

What is VZs actual skill set, how does he project? I've read he has great size, good wheels and is smart and a leader, but is he a shoot first power forward who can grind it up in the corners, or does he play with more finesse? Does he excell at special teams, play crappy defense, good on breakaways? This is stuff that should be discussed as much or more than who is getting him or not imo.

I have seen some who say he would have been top 5 in this years drsft (which is silly cuz of his age but at least provides some context) and read from others (mainly Leafs fans) who say he wouldnt even crack their lineup. But really, even though he is a developed talent, does anyone have firsthand knowledge of what he might be?

From a selfish point of view, if he doesn't sign with the Bruins (hometown factor, not necessarily fit) we have to be the front runners. He would slot in w/ Jack, a familiar face, and a soon to be "elite" center, or worst case scenario O'Reilly, who makes anyone on his line look good. On top of the fact that we would be able to give him the contract he wants 2 years down the road (Pegula factor).

I wasn't aware that the Leafs were so deep that they couldn't find room for a highly coveted Hobey Baker award winning goal scorer.

I think the Frozen Four tourney is becoming more watched now that ESPN covers most of it. I know I caught a few games last year.

We need a LW to slot in next to Jack. Vesey has been playing w/ Jack for a few years now. He's big, fast, and can score. I'd take a gamble with 1 of my 4 3rd round picks.
