I know that's how they work with normal contracts, but the cap sites don't show bonuses for the ELCs, the cap hits don't change. I could be wrong - chilliard77
But the cap total will .
POTENTIAL PERFORMANCE BONUSES The sum of performance bonuses obtainable by players currently listed on the active roster. $6,137,500

If his #1 determining factor has to do with Cups...
Pitt & Chicago are pretty far ahead of everyone else
If it's play at home...
It's obviously Chicago
If it's an up & coming team...
I'd say Eichel gives us the advantage over NJ, and being a year or 2 ahead of the Leafs gives us the advantage there
If it's a playoff team...
then maybe it's Philly over NYR & NYI
But why not just pick Pitt?
Not saying it's not possible
But it really doesn't seem likely
Like I asked,
What's special about the Philly situation that would make them "stand out" above all the other teams recruiting him? - jdfitz77

Think ya meant Boston here bucko.
I'd have Pittsburgh over Philly but that's just me. |

I think it's just bc it get so complicated to put into a chart
The contracts aren't released to public so that they know it's a 500,000 bonus for this, or a 100,000 bonus for that, etc
No way for the Cap sites to actually get the particulars of what bonuses are hit & what aren't...
Until they're actually met & reported (which they aren't always) |

They have to eventually
Why wouldn't they?
I just don't think they can right away
For example,
Say there's a .5mil bonus for 60 games played
Obviously can't count against that years Cap
Might get hurt in Camp & miss the whole season
I'm almost positive that ANY performance bonuses actually get applied to the following year
Regardless if it's ELC, vet contract, whatever - jdfitz77
I am talking when it comes to paying him his 2nd and 3rd contracts the Pens will be in a tough spot |

Maybe true
What helps Pitt though is that they don't have the track record of trading away players like Chicago has had to do in recent years
Guys like Fleury & Kunitz will be gone by then
I'm sure that'll make room somehow
Cap should continue to go up too
Especially w extra revenue for Vegas |

Pittsburgh is also in the East. Potentially another consideration. |

What did I miss - SABRES 89
Detroit called Vesey
His agent said no thanks, Detroit is too far from home
Does this mean Chicago is out?
Maybe!
Pitt meeting with him today
I'm worried about them
Vesey's agent had said good things about Buffalo the last couple days |

I hated the Sens, but always respected & appreciated Alfie
GREAT player
Probably underrated
Hall of Famer for sure IMO

Is this confirmed or is this "Yeah it happened, the finnish guy said so".
Also, if Detroit is too far away then Buffalo must be right on the cut off point if it's not also too far. Same goes for Pittsburgh. |

Detroit is too far to play for a team that is a bit of a mess. Chicago isn't necessarily to far to play for a powerhouse. But maybe. I don't think its just the distance but also the Western travel schedule is harder.
Anyway, nothing really means anything because it really only matters what it means to Jimmy Vesey. Personally, I'd be surprised if he signs with Buffalo because I can't imagine he'd put on this whole dog an pony show just to sign where he could have for the the last month... but if Vesey feels differently that's all that matters. |

The initiation fee will not count as league revenues, so it will be interesting to see how the addition of Vegas will affect the cap.
Probably a minor bump for the first few years, but I'm not quite convinced that long-term the franchise will be viable.
And I don't know why, but it's going to be so much more fun to watch whether or not a team can flourish in Vegas than if it was in Seattle or Houston. |

If he's already suspended isn't it already proven?
He can still appeal but I don't think he gets out of it. Didn't hear anything about William's appealing and it going down from his 4. |

Philly has things that Hextall can use and it's up to him to figure it out not me.
Some I can think of:
Philly has a great tie to USA Hockey with Ed Snider's work which might be usable.
Our history of making the playoffs is second to Detroit in the last 25 years and can never be underestimated cause once you are in the playoffs anything can happen.
The lure of the Flyers which many players have said is partly because the way the organization treats them from the minute they sign a contract with the team. (I know other teams have this also) Once a Flyer always a Flyer.
Most people only think of the bad of the Philly fans but the good fans are some of the most knowledgeable and passionate in the country.
There's more that I'm not thinking of but it's really like I said who's GM is the best Used Car salesman in the time when they make their pitches. |

make it sound like they have some major change to the organization. Yes you be retiring the number of the best player you had in franchise history. A simple press release would suffice, not an announcement to announce your future announcement |

He didn't really do a show, though, we did. He said the same thing he said in Nashville which was "I want to see what else is out there." If this was where he had definitely wanted to play then you're right, he would have signed already. So if he wants to see what's out there and then decides Buffalo is a good fit then he'll sign here.
