....WE DON'T NEED NO WATER, LET THE *&%$#@!*& -ER BURN....BURN *&^%$#@!-ER, BURN !!

You'll have to indulge memy fun. My boy Dion Phaneuf and his
Calgary Flames are en fuego, and they seem to have found their steely
resolve that propelled them into the Stanley Cup Finals in 03/04. So
much has changed from that squad to this, and dare I say, this squad is
so much better equipped to kick some serious ass in the West. Dion
Freakin Phaneuf has been an Grade stud for Coach Sutter ! In my
opinion, if I were to have to name an MVP and a rookie Of The
Yearin the league in this moment, my vote would go to Mr.
Phaneuf. Every night, this kid is growing up before our very eyes. His
on-ice contributions are conspicuous and his lunch-bucket-work ethic
has been contagious. He's living upto all the advanced billing
and he's making it look easy!

To this point in his rookie season,
Dionhasearned21:50 per game in valuable ice time, and
don't be surprised if that number increase to 25:00 by Christmas time.
By comparison, Phaneufhas loggedmore ice time than Brian
Rafalski, Adam Foote, Scott Hannan, and Franken Chara. Not bad comapny,
eh? Look up and down the Calagry D corps and you'll see
theNHLs best collection of DMonsters-a deep and talented
group of ass kickers in Rhett Warrener, Robyn Regehr, Jordan Leopold,
Steve Montador, Andrew Ferrence and some guy name Mushie Marchment---
what makes Phaneuf so amazing is that he walked right into camp, looked
his mates in the eye, and told em all to get in lie behind him. Brass
balls!Phaneuf is a leader of men. He has that intangible "IT",
that separates the good from the ELITE. The kid is fourth on the Flames
in scoring!

Sutter's ridinghis buckin bronco like he's a ten year
vet;Dion'splaying even strength, PP, PK, and his prescence
on the Calgary blueline is evident. Opposing coaches must game plan for
Phaneuf the same way they game plan for Pronger, Jovanovski, Scott
Stevens, etc.Ipity the forward to wanders across the
trolley tracks with his head down....he plays a nasty, physical style,
and he's doing it against the other team's best players. To say nothing
of his Al Iafrate-likecannon from the point. Phaneuf is playing
the toughest position in the NHL. Many a highly touted DMan prospect
has tried, failed, and washed out of the league. Not Phaneuf. He's got
the pedigree, all world talent, and theintestinal
fortitudeto not only learn the position, but, master it. This kid
will not only be the next captain of the Flames, he will also be a
future Hall of Famer. No bull.

Repeat after me: ".......PHANEUF, PHNAEUF, PHANEUF IS ON FIRE....."

The pre-season games observation was the best.

A guy I do business with is a die-hard Habs fan. He said he went down for a road trip with some friends to watch a game in Boston then in Philly. I believe he said it was around 2010. BOTH games he said they had to leave mid-game because how badly they were being harassed and getting stuff tossed at them.
- markmark

I've been to a ton of Leafs games in Boston - as long as you aren't a jerk, you are fine.

The homo-erotic overtones in these blogs is disturbing.

This is like that homosexual blog stuff someone was posting last year.

Yeah, I've heard similar stories from friends as well.

But hey, there are idiots everywhere... I've seen some Boston fans getting stuff thrown at them as well.

I even defended a guy and his 7 year old son that were getting harassed because they were cheering when Boston was scoring... (frank)ing unbelievable...

Apparently his Leaf Hate Boner is robust enough to write for the Sens and Sabres, and the Habs Canucks if he wanted to.

I figure that's the case in most places. Like Scabeh said, bumholes are everywhere.

I've been a belligerent jerk in Buffalo at a game. Not to anyone around me or over the top, I just did A LOT of drunken yelling at the players.

Mostly on the offensive side. They are pretty damn solid on D.

I think this is the manager but there seems to be too many situations where they don't drop a bunt or take something off a swing to advance a runner. I feel like they leave SO many runners on base because everyone seems to go out and swing for the fences.

I realize I am nitpicking pro's that sit in first place right now but it seems like the best of the best can play that well rounded game through and through. The Jays give off that vibe of a one-dimension offense a lot of games and that worries me a bit.

Again, all opinion and conjecture but at least I've formed this opinion watching a lot.

- markmark

seems nit picky to me
when you look at the related stats.. LOB etc.. the Jays are in the middle of the League. The cubs leave the most runners on base...but they are really good... Getting runners on is good...more the better..even if you leave a lot on base.

The small ball/home run thing also baffles me

the Jays have been on a 102 win pace since game 40.. they are really good

Really (frank)ing good. Yesterday's thrashing of at playoff team like the Astros was a joy to witness in person. Martin's catch in the 'Stros dugout just as they brought the tying run to the plate in the 7th was incredible. They've won 7 of their last 8 series now. Fans should be enjoying this more than worrying about it.

I very rarely see anyone rooting for another team having any issues. Honestly can't remember the last time I have.

Well at least you're having fun.... right?

I'd like to go to a Habs/Bruins game in Boston one day, my best memories at the Bell center are games vs Boston (there have been some epic battles over the years).

Problem is, I usually get pretty arrogant when I'm drunk so the odds of me getting beat up if I go all alone are pretty high.

People who in any way threaten or harass someone cheering for the "other" team are the lowest of the low. Talk about someone needing to get a life...

I was at a Leafs-Sens game in Toronto a few years back - some douche Leafs fan in our section purposely dumped a beer on a Sens fan.

20 Leafs fans stood up, called up the usher, they threw the Leafs fan out and everyone applauded. And then a Leafs fan bought the Sens fan a beer.

True story.

If you think that treating a visiting fan poorly is going to help your team win, you don't deserve to stay and watch the game.

I appreciate the really good performances. I think it's the fact that there is still a lot of jockeying for playoff positions going on that worries me.

Yea... that's bullpoop. People like that are the worst.

It IS a lot of fun to have back and forth that is friendly. Any Jays v Yankees game seems to have a lot of that which is fun. I've also gotten into with a guy wearing a Vince Carter Orlando jersey at a Raps game. Lots of chirping but smiles and nothing stupid/vulgar being exchanged.
