PREDICTIONS FOR NEXT SEASON BECAUSE I HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO!!!

.) Klefbom emerges as a legit #1 Dman avoiding serious injury while scoring 40 points as Larsson's presence on the top pairing opens Klefbom to pursuing the attack more regularly.

.) Larsson has some early struggles, but forms a formidable top pairing with Klefbom and finishes the season with 24 points (only 3 of which are goals). 17 of those points come in the second half of the season.

.) Draisaitl struggles to produce for most of the year as he's forced to carry linemates like Maroon, Yak, Letestu, and Kassian while the veteran assistance is all pushed to the top two lines (because Oilers). Ends the season with 36 points, but continues to succeed possession-wise.

.) RNH regains form playing with Pouliot and Puljujarvi for most of the year. Posts 55 points... again.

.) Puljujarvi makes the team out of training camp. He's played with RNH and Pouliot which helps him develop good two-way habits. Finishes the season injured but scores 29 points in 60ish games (from scattered smaller injuries and a couple healthy scratches).

.) Nurse once again struggles mightily and the team continues to refuse to send him down in a classic display of Oilers management. Finally gets sent down after the trade deadline because the Oil acquire a Dman to help push towards the playoffs.

.) Oilers miss the playoffs by 8 points finishing the season with 84 points (37-35-10).

.) The biggest factor leading to the missed playoffs is a mid-January 7 game losing where neither Gustavsson nor Brossoit are able to keep the team afloat after Talbot gets injured.

.) Oesterle establishes himself as a very strong bottom pairing option and gets praised publicly by MacLellan a couple times during a short stretch where Sekera and Klefbom are both injured. Simpson gets a shot in the NHL in that same stretch and shows well considering the circumstances. Musil gets traded around December for a comparable level forward prospect (lets say JC Lipon).

.) Sekera suffers a substantial injury and misses 30+ games. Finishes the season with a somewhat disappointing 15 points.

.) Davidson continues what he was doing last season, but is given more of a shot on the PP where his slapshot becomes a needed tool and is part of a resurgence of the PP. Scores 10 goals and adds 13 assists in a nearly full season (lets say 78 games).

.) Lander takes over the 4th line C spot full time from Letestu after he drops off. Primary cause for the drop off the team's two new RH shooters making his presence on the PP unnecessary. The 4th line ends up looking like Khaira- Lander- Pakarinen at the end of the year (due in part to injury).

.) Four Oilers score at least 20 goals (RNH with 20, McDavid with 24, Lucic with 27, and Eberle with 35). Three more score between 13 and 19 (Pouliot with 18, Draisaitl with 13, and Puljujarvi with 16). The total I've mentioned from the team so far brings them to 166 goals. The rest of the roster manages to pot a total of 68 bringing their total to 234 goals (2.85 GF/G) which will be good for 11th in the league.

.) McDavid suffers another major injury in his second season missing 20ish games. Despite that, he still scores a team-leading 75 points.

.) Lucic finishes the season playing all but two games and posting 61 points. He teams up with McDavid (75P) and Eberle (66P) to form one of the best top lines in league.

.) Yakupov struggles out the gate as he's "buried" on the 3rd line with Draisaitl and Maroon. Manages to produce 23 points in 50ish games before he's traded in exchange for the aforementioned Dman around the trade deadline (lets say Brett Pesce). He ends up finding a bit of a groove in Carolina playing and produces 14 points in the 25ish games after his trade. Yak supporters pour out of the woodwork screaming "I told you so" and continuing to whine about McLellan (despite the team's record improving after the trade).

I'm not old. Just sheltered. About as one would suspect from a Albertan living closer to the NWT than to Calgary.
