Yes, healthy scratch many times even during the post season (I think), plus viewed as expendable as far as finding ways to improve the Rangers roster this off season.

I imagine Vesey is going to get booed in many NHL rinks. And this gives extra reason to not like Hayes. Someone else posted this, Vesey needs his head checked if he truly is getting career advice from Hayes.

- AEL_Fox

Guess Stan's, Kane's, Q's no bullpoop and credible advice didn't appeal. And the personal phone call by Scotty Bowman... But oh well. I expect a Hudler signing soon.

Can you blame a kid for wanting to play with his childhood buddy? Part of the game is about having fun.

Would I have liked to see what this kid next to Kane and Toews? Sure. But life moves on.

Now, is Hudler the answer or are we in for another season of very poor 5 on 5 play with one outstanding line?

Can't say I blame Vesey.

He chose to play with one of his best friends in one of the best cities in the world. I guess he prioritized that over winning, over playing with future HOF'ers, and over putting himself in the best situation for immediate success.

So does this mean that Kevin Hayes has more pull than The Bowmans, Q, Kane, and Toews?
- roots_gamble

No, it means that Hayes unknowingly just handed his job over to his buddy.

Get the Red font, but honestly, he really needs to get someone like Hudler now, those lines look a little weak, or very young.

You know what JJ says about Q having 3 youngins up.

If no Hudler, can't see anyway around having 3 of;

Hartman, Schmaltz, Hino, McNeill, Motte

up with the big club

- vabeachbear

Yeah, need help ASAP. This isn't a cup winning team as is. I'm not sure is Hudler alone is enough. I think the likelihood Crawford is traded by the deadline just increased.

New York isn't a bad choice for Vesey. Big city and the team hasn't has a first round pick since what, 2012? Vesey will get a chance to play bigger minutes in New York and they're still a decent team. As Blackhawks fans our perspective is tainted, but their are other good teams to play for too.

Wouldn't trading Crawford make them worse off for the playoffs??

He will probably at least get booed at TD Garden
- maria_wyeth

Possibly, but I don't think K.Hayes got booed there and he made the same decision. I just don't think the attention on Vesey gets out much past the online hockey community.

With wet behind the ears Boston hockey types anyway. Guys that age trust their buddies. Think it's not his best choice career wise, but it's his and now he needs to own it.

EDIT - go get Hudler!!!! Or go Plan B!!!!

Plan B(randon Pirri)???

Yes, and it's doubtful he'd waive his NMC in the middle of the season anyway.

Still dont get how Vesey gave up the chance to play with Tavares, Toews/Kane, Eichel. Picked to play with Stepan/Hayes.

Ok enough of the Vesey talk from me.

It would but for some reason this board always wants to trade him.

Hawks seemed to be entirely invested into landing this kid, and to their credit they gave it their all with their pitch/offer. But now that its over, not getting him has left this team with rather weak forward depth, and I'm hoping there is a backup plan. Gotta AT LEAST get another LW.

Why would you do it in-season though? Before worrying about who needs to go at some point (not this year), at least wait until: 1) Panarin's cap hit is known, 2) if Panarin reaches his bonuses again, 3) who is taken in the expansion draft, and 4) the cap for next season. Lot of moving parts before anything needs to be done about making room for Panarin. Crawford may ultimately be the best choice, but it's not a choice that needs to be made this season.

I totally missed the in season part. Ignorance, didn't read back enough. The whole god damn Vesey fiasco has my head spinning. I wouldn't trade Crawford during the season either. But next summer might have to.

If the team isn't a cup contender this year then they need to look toward next season and clear cap space to sign Panarin.

Kevin Hayes gives Q, Stan and the Hawks the big F-U one more time! How the impact of Q's treatment of Jimmy Hayes has come back to bite the Hawks now TWICE with NHL ready Power Forwards from College.....Q sympathizers at the ready. Imagine a 3rd line of Vesey-KHayes-JHayes....size and scoring ability....but Q knows best. At least StanBo re-signed Mashinter, Rosival and got over-the-hill goon Jordan Tootoo When do we start planning the parade?

You do it in season because 1) you don't think you have a roster that can win, and, 2) you aren't over a barrel and can get more in return. Maybe pick up an expiring contract and still make the playoffs and improve five on five performance whileHoping Darling can step in and step up.

Chicago seems not to be the desirable landing spot for North American skaters that we thought it was, for whatever reason: family (Reilly), location (presumably, Hayes), now Vesey (cap issues?)....

Still getting some quality Europeans (Kempny, certainly Panarin), but the bloom appears to be off the rose as far as having the class organization luring quality free agents.

Absolutely there are other good teams to play for.

Again, NY is a great city with a solid fan base, but let's not kid ourselves, if he TRULY prioritized winning he would have chosen Chicago or Pittsburgh. If he wanted a major role while playing with an impact player (Tavares) he would have chosen the Isles. If he wanted to be a big cog of the future, Toronto or Buffalo would have been the picks.

BUT, he chose to play with one of his good childhood friends in the biggest sports market in the world. That was his reasoning, which is fine. I just don't want to hear other reasons for why he chose the Rags, because he won't be playing with high-end talent.
