On a personal note, I travel for work....mainly drive. I have driven close to 500k miles in the past 10 years. I have driven 2 Fords, 2 Lexuses, and now I own my 1st GMC automobile. Never had a major issue before. Our company babies these cars....we are a service departments wet dream. Ideal maintenance schedule followers. All highway miles, rotate them around 150k miles.

Well I just hit over 100K miles and my entire engine blew. yep. I had heard bad things about GMC but never believed it for myself. Now I know.......Luckily for me when the top AND bottom half blew, yep....both in separate instances and both within 100 miles of each other I was local.....

So word to the wise.......don't buy GM.

- SteveRain

Must be lucky. 3rd Chevy went over 250k recently, '96 Impala SS. Small block, reverse cooling, 350. Still drives like a dream. Other two were a '70 Chevelle and '84 Camaro.

Be careful with the "size" argument. I recall many folks here not wanting to get rid of BB because "there was no one in the organ-I-zation that could fill his size.

A small player who plays big > a big player who plays small

- powerenforcer

I agree about the size argument but my understanding is that Motte does not play big whereas Vesey is projected to be a power forward.

Tyler Motter - 5'9" / 188 lbs
Jimmy Vesey - 6'1" / 194 lbs

Hawks need some size in their top 6.

- hankscorpio

HockeyDb has Motte as 5'9" 193 FWIW. Motte is more of a physical in your face type player, that can really skate. From what I gather Vessy is more of a pure scorer. Not sure about his two way defensive play. Maybe someone else knows more on that.

Yes, I was generalizing.
This team needs a true Power Forward

I've heard he got a lot of praise on his 2 way game from his Harvard coach over his career there. He mentions it in his players tribune article.

Was it that 4cyl motor they came out with in the last few years?
- 6628

No...it's a 6.2L engine. I you tubed it. Problems galore.

Just typical GMC.

Basically dealership F'd up and will admit it, but I still have pay. That's the logic that loses you market share AND led to you going belly up and being saved by the federal government. I guess I already paid for this car in production since I pay taxes........

5'9 188 is solid. Low center of gravity means he should be pretty effective maintaining the puck and on the boards, assuming of course that 188 pounds is muscle and not blubber.

Harvard is in Hockey East, not the ECAC. Michigan is in the CCHA (for hockey). The two are comparable. But it is not really apples to apples to compare the two players' stats for one season.
- John Jaeckel

Harvard is in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC)

From this article: https://www.nhl.com/news/...d-the-numbers/c-281367470

And Michigan is Big-10
http://www.bigten.org/spo...l/m-hockey-standings.html

Plus that's just what the guy's comment I replied to said.

I'd also like to add that the first article I posted is charting Vesey's NHL path and specifically mentions Tyler Motte and Nick Schmalz as guys that would contribute in the NHL as soon as he could, or even quicker.

24 Wilson 24 Probert and let's throw in 24 Havlat
- RedFeather

Let's just be smart & leggo of Wilson's nuts.

He lead crappy team's and after they traded Crossman the powerplay "lead" by Wilson never recovered.

This is a classic case of a really good player on a garbage team being recognized and over-vaued by the fan base because they thought he was a super star.

He as a good defenseman, but not as good as the really stellar defenders from that era.
Let go.

Larmer I understand
Wilson NO.

Despite his short height, Motte is built like a rock and is similar to Ben Smith, just with more skill. Pound for pound, Motte is a solid player who can at least be an effective checking forward.

Vesey seems to be a power forward in the mold of Saad (not huge but knows how to use his body to help generate possession and offense) rather than in the mold of a Patrick Maroon, Corey Perry, or Milan Lucic who are huge players that crash the net and make the lives of goalies and defensemen miserable.

Growing up I loved Wilson. Agree he was never a stellar defender but I was still a huge fan. Plus he never wore a helmet which i thought was just the coolest thing possible (although in hindsight no helmet kinda seems dumb).

Wow, I know a few guys who have had the 4cyl go bad, but the 6.2 is supposed to be a strong motor. My kid had a 5.3 go bad. I've had mostly GM vehicles and never had a problem, v8, v6, straight 6, 4 banger. Currently on my 2nd Hemi. The MPG on the Hemi with the 8 speed trans is unbelievable. Ford is the one I don't trust. Worst vehicle I ever had.

One of my favorite quotes from Motte, "... you’re going to have a lot of success when you get to the front of the net."

Great video! I'm curious to see how Alex Fortin plays in September. Assuming the Hawks extend a tryout.

Simpler design = less parts = higher reliability = pushrod Preferably a V-8

I will take my iron block / iron head pushrod V-8 in the Impala any day. Plus my next project car is this winter, doing a full restoration, will be a '64 Impala with the big block 409. Least amount of work and money will be the engine itself. That thing is a beast. Will be my daughter's wedding gift next spring.

Hey, what is the differential's ratio on that 8-speed?

The build sheet says 3:55 ratio in my truck. If you have cruise on and do 70mph it's turning at 1500 rpm and getting 24 mpg. Head winds knock it down a bit as well as hills. Tow a 4800 pound boat package on flat road and still get 19mpg. Hope this one lasts a long time.
