Looked this up just for the heck of it:

Tyler Motte - 2015-16 U. of Michigan Big-10 38gms 32G 24A 56Pts
Jimmy Vessy - 2015-16 Harvard University ECAC 33gms 24G 22A 46Pts

- walleyeb1

How does Big 10 stand up to ECAC?

True - but Count Bettman is still around. Until he goes, it will continue to be cap hell for some teams.

Agreed and if they do land JV and he is THAT good, gotta wonder if they will deal Panarin before seasons end to reap the return if his asking price is fiscally unfeasible for the Hawks.

I honestly think Panarin in a Hawks uniform in 2017-18 is 50/50 at best. baring a trade of Crawford or Hossa.

Oh well...back to reading twitter trying to out scoop each other for JV intel.

My understanding is the Big 10 is a much tougher conference than ECAC.

On a personal note, I travel for work....mainly drive. I have driven close to 500k miles in the past 10 years. I have driven 2 Fords, 2 Lexuses, and now I own my 1st GMC automobile. Never had a major issue before. Our company babies these cars....we are a service departments wet dream. Ideal maintenance schedule followers. All highway miles, rotate them around 150k miles.

Well I just hit over 100K miles and my entire engine blew. yep. I had heard bad things about GMC but never believed it for myself. Now I know.......Luckily for me when the top AND bottom half blew, yep....both in separate instances and both within 100 miles of each other I was local.....

So word to the wise.......don't buy GM.

Maggie to Pierre is a much better comparison than Probie to Willie. In terms of character, there is no comparison of Probert to Magnuson.

While I admire what Probert did to try to ward off his evils, Keith Magnuson was a face of the Chicago Blackhawks for over a generation. I am grateful and humbled to have met such a great man. Who Keith Magnuson was, off the ice, was a big(ger) reason why his #3 was retired with the great Pierre Pilote.

Willie left the 'Hawks on bad terms in 1991. His 39 goals and 85 points will likely stand as the all time 'Hawks single season defenceman scoring in '82-'83. Too bad it took him scoring a lot to get his only Norris. But then again, all of us know how the Norris is really awarded. Those points came often with 20/18/28 up front on the PP.

- blackhawk24

I did a hockey clinic when I was younger and Keith Magnuson was there promoting it and helping out.

I don't remember it very clearly (I was younger) but my dad certainly does. He still raves about how much class Maggy had and how nice of a guy he was.

I think the last time I brought up Vesey vs guys like Motte and Schmalz, the reply was that Vesey is older and more developed, therefore the preferred option to jump straight to the NHL.

I think Vesey is considered a better prospect then Motte he scored 80 goals in 128 games over 4 years. plus he is 4-5 inch's taller.

Motte has 50 goals in 107 games thru 3 years. Nick has 16G in 75 games but is clearly the best passer of the group.

I wonder if the 'delay' is simply to allow for the selected team to orchestrate a splashy press conference-- which would be in line with Mc D style---

Vesey must have made his mind up by now--- the menu reading is over kid--- time to order up--

I sure hope he makes much quicker decisions on ice!

- jb3333

He'll take less than a week to make the decision and there is absolutely nothing to gain for them right now by saying any team is eliminated.

Ill be pisssed if he goes to NYR
- Hawkster

If you compare NY's roster to Chicago's, it's safe to say he'll be pissed if he chooses them too. Unless he thinks he can lift that team up by himself.

I have owned:

Buick
Subaru (2)
VW
Nissan
Honda (3)
Mazda (2)
Jeep
Lexus (2)
Hyundai
Scion

Lexus and Scion are both made by Toyota and my belief is a fairly well-maintained Toyota product will get you well over 200K of reliable, trouble free miles, typically.

By "better" if you mean higher upside okay....Because Motte may be more of a 3rd liner but it's way early to tell who will have the best shot at a very good NHL career.

Must admit I've never seen Vessy play, or much of Scmaltz for that matter. But Motte is a well rounded two way, defense first type player. I think that's primarily due coaching staff at U of Michigan.

And according to Vesey, K. Hayes, and their agents, it's an easy enough transition from college to the pros where they should automatically make the starting lineup.

Harvard is in Hockey East, not the ECAC. Michigan is in the CCHA (for hockey). The two are comparable. But it is not really apples to apples to compare the two players' stats for one season.

Was it that 4cyl motor they came out with in the last few years?

I would agree and Toyota/Lexus hold their value very nicely.

I have heard that argument as well. Generally that makes sense. What rubs me the wrong way is not being humble enough to be open to developing in the minors first versus negotiating an ELC that requests a spot in the starting lineup. If Vesey earns the spot in training camp, then great. But pay your dues first if the coaching staff thinks you're still not ready yet. And this is no matter whether you stayed in college through senior year or played 1-2 years before going pro.

Tyler Motter - 5'9" / 188 lbs
Jimmy Vesey - 6'1" / 194 lbs

Hawks need some size in their top 6.

Depends on the motor, really. The LS engines and the 3800s are widely regarded as being bulletproof.

Be careful with the "size" argument. I recall many folks here not wanting to get rid of BB because "there was no one in the organ-I-zation that could fill his size.
