According to various sources on Twitter, UND's Thomas DiPauli will sign with the Penguins. I wonder what (if any) connection this would have with the Vesey situation.

FWIW, Fish said he and Vesey will meet later today, work through the evening, and hopefully finalize a decision tomorrow morning.

Not even saying this as a hawks fan but jesus christ.. if i was in his shoes i would've picked the hawks the first (frank)ing day i became a free agent lol. that's just me though.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the top 6 is currently in better shape than the bottom 6.

If we get Vesey or Hudler and plug them in with Toews and Hossa and that bumps Panik down the lineup it might help, but the bottom 6 will still be relatively weak compared to a top 6 that's among the leagues best. I'd argue that right now, even without a set LW for Toews and Hossa that the Hawks top 6 is among the leagues best. Bottom 6 not so much.

Since your insertion of Panik into a top 6 role, which is not ideal for him either, does nothing to improve the Top 6 from last year., the bottom 6 is STILL not the problem. The top 6 is. Actually, compared to having Ladd or Shaw, it's worse.

So go ahead, put Stanley's big "steal" from last year, a guy who couldn't get out of the AHL with Toronto, in the top 6. Same problem as last year. One line being depended on for way too much of the offense. A mediocre 5-on-5 team.

I will not repeat the statistics or the obvious playoff matchup issue. Not worth the keystrokes at this point.

It 100% is, but the main difference is that Lebron was at the time and still is a proven player in his league. Vesey hasn't even played in the league yet. Haha.
