Yeah--- can't lose then---

Something else that crossed my mind-- I wonder if Jimmy Vesey was at the Garden for game 6 and 17 seconds--- it was a sight to witness and the way the Hawks and especially the captain-- fought back and stole the Cup--- what a night and performance-
unbelievable really--

I wonder -- Did it break Jimmy's heart to see his hometown team Bruins go down like that?

Or did it leave an indelible mark on him of the talent, character and winning pedigree of the Hawks?

Weise: "I don't know why I didn't play..."

maybe if he had produced a bit more, he would have played more....

Weise was never given a chance ,same with Daily .Both mistakes by coach Q . He had a off year IMO .Did not like the way he handle the goalies even thought Crow is a horse he needed to rain him in a bit for the stretch .

Even a stopped clock....

But - where do all these guys get their "predictions" from - who are the sources sources?

Are they talking to friends? Cousins? Acquaintances? Someone who knew the kid's father in junior high school?

- StLBravesFan

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this prospect who knows this player who's going with the girl who saw Jimmy Vesey at a Tim Horton's last night. I guess he's pretty serious about playing with the Leafs.

Well - yeah - looks like it from the outside.

What did Q and his assistants see in the practices? In the room? On the planes/busses?

What did they see in the hours of tape from various angles that we don't get to view?

I don't know....

Hope he didn't notice that the 2 goal scorers no longer wear the Indianhead.

IMO, I disagree. Weise had 15 games to prove something in the regular season and he did a lot of nothing. Sure, he didn't get as many minutes as he did in Montreal, but he was given those games to leave an impression. He didn't even play all that physical or I'm sure he would have been given more time on the ice.

He played in games 5, 6, & 7 of the Blues series. I imagine had they advanced, he'd have played against the Stars as well. It takes some players some time to earn Q's trust, he was getting there I think. Too bad we didn't get to see the second round this past season.

I think on a team that does not practice much ,he was tossed on all different lines .He was really not given a legit chance until late in the playoffs . He is not a overly physical player . And I never expected that and would think the HAWKS would have known that .He was more know for scoring some clutch goals ,and the HAWKS sure could have used a little more of that .. He will find success in Phily like Daley did in Pit .I believe Q will need to run a few more practices in the future , and earn his salary a bit more . Practice makes perfect

Interesting post by Eklund where he has two sources weigh in on whether Vesey is worth the hype or not. The unidentified source who says that Vesey is overrated or overhyped compares him to Jet and Hawk prospects. This source feels that the following prospects are > than Vesey not just now as prospects but in terms of upside:

Jets: "Roslovic, Connor, Lemieux, DeLeo and Petan....And that's not including Ehlers, Laine and Dano."

Hawks: "Hinostroza, Schmaltz, Motte and Hartman"

This source also says Vesey won't even score 20 goals in the AHL. That's Drew Leblanc territory.

Hinostroza didn't crack 20 in the A last year. And this source uses that metric to project Vesey. So maybe the source needs to check his own math.

There are a lot of very good hockey people representing about 8 NHL organizations who seem to disagree with this source.

Also,

I have not heard boo since last week on Vesey and the Hawks. Not sure what that means if anything.

I think not hearing anything in the last 18 hours suggests he may be going elsewhere. May hear something today.

I will also add, that to this moment, I don't think anyone is hearing anything the last couple of days to indicate where Vesey is going. Seems like this thing is really locked down.

FWIW the Hockey news has Chicago finishing fourth in the central. As it stands I think I would agree with that.

Think you can't weigh anything into the silence. The only thing I've seen is a tweet by someone who is credentialed and covering the isles (@AndyGraz_SNY) who tweeted yesterday afternoon at 4:20:
Source just told me Vesey camp has told two teams they are out - #isles not one of them

Well, as it stands today, the Hawks are about as thin upfront as they have been in several years. The defense and the G is about as good as as it's been in several years.

But anyone buying in to the "Top 6 is set, it's only the bottom 6 that needs help" mantra needs to seriously get real.

Still need a top 6 LW in the worst way.

Gotta wait and see because I believe that the fact that Hudler has not signed anywhere yet has a lot to do with the Vesey situation and he will likely end up with one of the "runners up," and likely that one will be a perennial playoff team. Could easily be the Hawks.

As I read more about JV I can't help but think IMHO he will be a buster on levels we have not seen if he signed with BO, NYI, BU, or TO. His offensive production as a man against kids at Harvard is weak. Never had more assists than goals so he is not a play maker. He is the tough guy against inferior players. How will he stand up when a Orpik or a Backes type nails him in the corner? And, with all this distraction he has to be somewhat of a head case... Just friggen choose.

My hope - the smoke is released today, comes out blue and the shape of a maple leaf - good riddance...
