It's just silly, man. Like I said, he's talking to teams about minutes, second contracts and special teams...while having zero experience in the league.

How does that work?

- Hank3Henshaw

Said it before. He has not played a shift yet he wants to hear he is a top 6/PP/PK guy? How bout you earn your playing time and lets go from there. That will go over great with Q.

I can see him goin to his first practice with a shirt saying "Im all that!". Then spends the rest of practise doing sprint drills. Q would eat his lunch and then some.

Totally agree. I mean, he could step in and be a contributor, or he could not. A lot of this hype is out of his control, but this business about minutes, special teams and future contracts is ridiculous at this point.

The Hawks aren't taking much of a risk. If he is a flop, than big deal, he is making 925k and won't earn his bonuses. It may even take a year or two for this kid to get up to speed, but he sounds like a good prospect, so why not try to sign him. Some scouts think he could be a 70-80 point guy in his career, so why not take the small risk? Right now, the Hawks have very little on LW, so anyone that is at least a 3rd liner or better is a great add.

Agreed on the risk. I think it is a no brainer.

As far as being a 70-80 pt guy, that might be a stretch - see him as more of a Chris Kreider type with 40-50pt potential. Also, Pananrin had a hell of a season and put up 77 pts

Hudler is likely not waiting on the Hawks, but other teams that strike out Vesey too.
- breadbag

That is a great point! His agent will tell teams, my guy wasn't good enough for you in July and nowwwww you want him? Start with 3-4 mill a year! Click! Hawks may just wind up standing out in left field with a snow shovel once this process is all said and done!
Uncle John has the PR spin already to go about the Hawks recent picks anyway. Likening back to Captian Serious , his thoughts........Hmmmmmmm.

In addition to demanding special teams ice time, sources say Vesey is demanding Toews' #19, the team captaincy and he also wants to be both alternate captains as well.

Joe McDonald over at ESPN
http://www.espn.com/nhl/s...s-meeting-seven-nhl-teams

It does say 'probably' so you can't assume it came directly from his camp.

Grusso reporting DiPauli will sign with the Pens. Vesey loved NJD pitch. He ranks front runners as 1)NYR 2) Hawks 3)TOR

I don't trust any reports right now. There are dozens of different "sources" all saying team "XYZ" is the favorite.

Lot of noise about this kid. Still a rookie and no way can his performance match all this hype. The last Hawks Hobey Baker player. Former Blackhawk, Hobey Baker winner Drew LeBlanc signs in Germany. "washed out at Rockford" Still need to sign a veteran wing no doubt about that either way! let go!!

If this Vesey kid somehow ends up with the Hawks, he better be prepared to work. Q is not going to give him a thing unless he earns it.

IF reports are true that part of his decision-making process is considering how to earn the best second contract possible, it makes a lot of sense for him to stroke the egos of every team expressing interest in him now so they maintain some interest two years from now. He wants to drive up demand and therefore his contract value. Lots of positioning and posturing going on but at the end of the day, the kid wants to get paid. I'm still liking the Hawks chances to land him.
