Where do Hurricane fans (or management if you know their plans) project Teravainen to be this season: top 6 or bottom 6? I assume 2nd line given your roster depth, and possibly 1st line as the season progresses.
- AEL_Fox

He'll play with Sebastian Aho and Elias Lindholm.

There is no real top six or bottom six with this team. Just 3 2nd lines, really.

He'll get his opportunities but as long as he puts up 45(ish) points I think they'll be pleased with him.

Rosemont, IL to see the Chicago Wolves.

Life changing experience. I recommend everyone takes the road trip if they have time

- hawkeytalkman

I remember going to see the Wolves play during their inaugural season when All State Arena was still the Rosemont Horizon. I still have the promo travel mug they had as a giveaway for that game. In college (went to Northwestern) I remember getting ticket a few days before or even on game day for dirt cheap. And one time I got 4 front row seats really easily (maybe the day or two before). That was a fun game.

When the Hawks sucked in the mid/late 90's, I took advantage of the student discount and was able to get $7 300-level tickets. And whenever I got tickets to Hawks-Wings games during that time, the UC seemed at least 50/50 if not more than 50% Wings fans. Sadly "Let's Go Red Wings" drowned out "Let's Go Hawks" many times. Definitely not the case now, thankfully!

Good point about the Canes having three 2nd lines rather than 3 prototypical lines. That does make sense to pair up Teravainen and Lindholm since they both play a defensive game and have good hockey sense. Don't know much about Aho but he is one of your top prospects.

Lots of potential with the youngsters you have there, not just the forwards but your All-American blueline is pretty decent as well.

If no one can talk to him until the 15th - Buffalo has his rights until then - how could Stan have made anything clear to him without running afoul of tampering rules?

Or is this going to be the Wirtz' / McDonough's reward for stepping up to the plate again for the Winter Classic?

First hockey game I ever went to was a Hogs/Mallards game in rockford during the UHL days. 3 fights in the first six seconds of the game. Faceoff...Fight...Faceoff...Fight...Faceoff...Fight. Settled down after that but man was that something to see. Also didn't QC have some giant bruiser on their team that just destroyed people?
- Walky

Wow, hell of an introduction to the sport. Those Hog teams had anything a fan could want. Fights, filth, grit, skill, drama, 3-4 fights 10 seconds into a game, well coached, a coach who knew what fans wanted and obliged to sell the sport/league, won cups, a few 250+ PIM guys. Big rivalry with QC but maybe even more with Muskegon a city who has more pro championships in hockey than any city in North America.

The beast you are talking about was called The Diesel, Steve MacIntyre. He made it to the bigs a few years after you saw him play unaffiliated AA pro. http://www.hockeydb.com/i...ts/pdisplay.php?pid=31013

That dude was scary. If he was inclined or a mean dude he could really maim someone if he chose. But if you remember he was a good guy and once the other guy had enough he stopped pummeling.

Miss that league.

Patrick Roy out in Colorado.

Most likely ths all about his ego, and his handling of these younger kids, and it didn't help that three seasons ago they had that incredible run (with a long in tooth defensive corps that over-excelled) and have fallen flt footed since.

You have to wonder if young guys like Matt Duchene coupled with imput from Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog, Beauchemin, Erik Johnson and Ty Barrie helped drive the nails..

This about me guy is still a player, not a coach and the very fact he thought they were gonna hand him the ability to make persoannel decisons freely when he simply had not accomplished anything...really?

He probably wanted Math Duchene gone, and it wasn't going to happen and he was angry...

I have enjoyed the couple of AHL games I have attended.

My favorite experience was driving to Peoria to watch Ben Bishop play. Bought tickets at the window the day of game and got 1st row, right behind the goalie for S20. Was really fun.

They have started selling winter classic tickets to Blues season ticket holders and I got mine yesterday.

Anyone know when/how many tickets will be offered to Blackhawks STHs?

We'll see where Vesey ends up early next week..

meantime in keeping with John's theme...I spent some time in Cincinnati during the late 90s teaching at a small university as well as working as a stagehand in the area.
One of the buildings I worked in was the old Riverfront coliseum. The Cincinnati Cyclones (IHL at that point) played there - they had been at the old Cincy Gardens until moving to what's now called US Bank Arena.

It was always great to see a game in there and a lot of my friends were working the games - sound, scoreboard, video cameras, followspots, etc...couple of friends and I would go to Barleycorn's - boat/restaurant on the other side of the river have a couple of beers and then take the shuttle that they provided over the river and to the games...always a blast...

Had to look up some pics of MacIntyre. After seeing them, I totally remember him.

Looked up his specs: 6'5", 250 LBS

GET OUT DA' WAY!

Roy was stunting the growth of that team and especially of budding stars Mackinnon, Duchene, and probably even Landeskog. As long as the next coach isn't Roy 2.0, I can see Mackinnon finally breaking out with a monster year. Duchene can hit the next level of offensive excellence. And could this quiet down the Landeskog trade rumors?

Roy's unstable/impulsive personality gave him an edge in his playing career, but didn't translate to a coaching role at all.

At this point the Hawks are the morning line favorite to sign Vesey.

I think only way Vesy doesn't come is if he really prefers being a bigger fish in a smaller pond-At this point I don't see how that would benefit his cause.

I'm sure Bowman has made the point in a very clear fashion they feel Vesey is going to contribute in Chicago in a big way this coming season....and any fears of him not having a golden opportunity to make the club has been eased.

- Al

My Scooby-sense is that he's coming to Chicago. The opportunity to slide in on the first line with 19 and 88 would be too much to turn down. Play here a couple of years and then decide where to go next or - hopefully - stay and win more cups! The sentimental choice is Boston but they seem out. I hear the family ties to NJ and the but they don't have the national exposure or the Cup potential in the next two seasons. Toronto seems like a rebuild situation and I doubt it's as appealing to an American player than if he were Canadian, plus there's the taxes. NY Rangers seem like the dark horse; closer to home, a couple of buddies on the team, but he doesn't seem to be a position fit and I don't think he's going to want to shift to RW. Chicago has such a great reputation for treating its players well, I think joins the Blackhawks.

I grew up in the Quad Cities, home of the Quad City Mallards. They have bounced back and forth between the Colonial Hockey League and AHL as the Flames. Regularly draw 1,500- 2,000 fans on weekends.

The biggest legend is Jacque Mailhot. The clip below is post-Mallards, but the guy might be the only Quad City Mallard to make SportsCenter.

Also JJ, just visited Portland, ME with my wife in May. We loved it! Hit me up if you are looking for food or beverage recommendations.

My first hockey experiences came in Syracuse, NY in the early 70's with the Syracuse Blazers (NAHL). Ironically I am now in Johnstown, PA. The 2 cities featured in Slap Shot. Sadly the Blazers did not have "Dr Hook" McCracken on that team but they did have "Butch" Barber, Bill Goldthorp and Dave Ferguson. The 3 combined for over 900 PIMs in '73. Sitting by the glass was always eventful as you just knew several brawls were always going to happen. for an 11-yr old the fights were simply fantastic.

I also remember the dominance of Maltais, Wiseman, and Brown for the Wolves. They each put up 100-point seasons for a few years. Besides Brown, none of them stuck in the NHL and became career minor leaguers with huge stats. Brown had some decent NHL seasons but no where near as dominant as he was in the minors.

The only reason the Devils are not rumored to be on the move from NJ is they are a former Cup winner. No one likes to go NJ from beat writers on down...If they sign Vesy good for them, because that is a not a destination spot for most.

I can attest to this. I've been to 3 hawks games in Newark, have a customer with seats, and a car service. Only way they go is car service, drops us off at the door, picks us up down the block after the game.

Place is a bit scary even during the day..................

I lived in Baltimore for a few years and would watch the Skipjacks. Fun team, fun town, had the locals involved. Glen Sharpley, Bruce Boudreau, McSorley, and Greg Fox.
Today, here in town we have the ECHL Mavericks, affiliates of the NYI. Great bunch of people, the locals have really taken hold, and arena holds 5800, and it has been a very big success. So much so, that Lamar Hunt Jr bough the team, and is currently trying to build an arena to house a USHL team.

Looks like that arena is gonna go through: http://www.bizjournals.co...ll-seek-star.html?ana=twt
