Well, I'm pretty sure that Morin can take care of himself when he needs to.

edit: dammit, late again!

If Morin is the top shutdown defenseman he is made out to be we wouldn't want him fighting either. But knowing he can take any bully on the block is satisfying. I had a faint hope that his first game in the nhl would be verse Bruins and him Chara would fight as a passing of the guard.

Weise is not a 4th line player, he is a 3rd line player.
- MJL

Well, yes and no. Looking at his TOI, in Montreal last year he was a 3rd liner, but on a deeper Chicago team he was clearly a 4th liner.

Even if he becomes a top pair shut down guy, I'm ok with him fighting once or twice a season as long as he's fighting another quality player or if he feels it's necessary to stand up for one of his teammates.

Flyers forwards at 5 on 5 over the past two years.

What Weise did in Chicago and Montreal for comparison.

Dunno, think your range is a bit off there... guy's never broken 30 pts before in the league, despite spending a lot of time with players like Pacioretty, Subban, Markov and Desharnais in MTL.

This year, he's gonna be playing with who... Cousins/Read/Bellemare/Gordon/VDV?

Breaking 20-pts might be a challenge for him. Worst case, we're looking at the numbers he put up in Chicago and Vancouver.

I don't hate the guy, and he's an upgrade over Ryan White (lol), but instead of going after (and paying) one of the best 4th-liners in the league, it might have been smarter to grab one of the many 3rd-line leftovers for a fraction and tasked them with the 3rd/4th tweener role.

Wasn't Wiese either a healthy scratch or the 12th forward in the playoffs for the Blackhawks?

But if we have any "quality" player doing the fighting it's a bad thing. So the other option is to have knuckle dragging plugs fighting. I'd rather go with guys who can do both and have that we can survive the 5+ minutes due to our depth in the next few years.

Yes.

When he got into the game, he scored a game-winner in game 5.

But keep looking at the glass half empty and hating everything.

If Weise ends up on the 4th line some kids killed it at camp and Hextall is going to have some real fun.
- dragonoffrost

Barring injury and assuming Konecny goes back to Junior, my predicted lines are:

Schenn-Giroux-Simmonds
Raffl-Couturier-Voracek
Laughton-Cousins-Weise
Lyubimov-Gordon/Bellemare-Read
VdV

When the Flyers sign these Euro free agents they always seem to end up making the team right away. Bellemare and Medvedev never played in the AHL, and Raffl had two games for the Phantoms before they realized he was too good to be down there.

So G was upset and never accepted the apology.... immediately following the hit?

That's alot to take from watching Giroux skate back to the bench with his head down.

- jak521

No...G skating off to the bench and Subban trying to apologize as G brushes him off is not acxepring his apology as the commentators point this out is whatt happened. I bet you can youtube it.

Why is G's friendship with Subban so inportant to you? Did you happen to see G's reaction to Subban dressed up as Jagr at the All-Star Game? G was wired for the game.

Gotcha. So that schlub Quenneville was using him incorrectly. It was paramount for him to play stalwarts like Richard Panik, Brandon Mashinter, and Andrew Desjardins over Wiese.

Oh I agree. I just think Morin will need to use the threat of how well he can throw them over actually throwing them. Schenn Morin simmonds Manning gudas weise even jake laughton cousins to a lesser extent can throw. The head hunting with Morin and gudas will be scary.

Keep in mind Weise was apart of a fragile Habs team that just collapsed without Price this season. I'm not sure I want any of those guys.

Yes, because Weise struggled when he got to Chicago, after missing a week getting acclimated to the system due to VISA issues.

But yes, he's a horrible player and the latest in an infinte list of Flyers' blunders.

I hate fans like you.

Trust me I have seen the clip a hundred times. My original point was that he didnt intentionally hit G in the head. He immediately, during the actual play, turned to check to see if he was okay. Giroux didnt push him aside, or brush him off. He slow gets up and skates to the bench.

Taking that and saying that giroux rejected his apology and still hasnt accepted it is insane. He literally just skates off the ice.
