Because our men suck at poop other than hockey..
No theory tho, maybe its because we can only do summer activities half of the year? - Arctic_AARDVARK
the summer thing is the same for men and women, and if IRC, it's similar in recent winter olympics - the ladies win the bulk of the medals. |

As do I, just think expecting him to kill it as a 19 yr old undersized rookie is asking too much.
I hope he does, that be great. |

Equality in Canada > most other countries? - Tumbleweed
You mean like Canadian parents are more likely to push their girls to succeed in sports than other countries do because of equality? That might make sense. |

Yeah- but beyond that acceptance by society and fair acess to coaches/funding/facilities.
Idk. I'm just shooting from the hip. It's a good question.

Seems like a solid hypothesis. Once we figure this out, we'll need to figure out why Canadian men suck so much vs the world at olympic sports. |

Canada doesn't seem to have many development programs for most sports. That combined with our relatively small population means we don't churn a ton of top tier athletes I guess?
I know soccer is played by a ton of kids in Canada but there aren't development academies like in Europe so you don't see a lot of developed talent for example. |

Yeah it really is interesting. Many of the counties at the opening ceremonies had much more men v woman, whereas I think Canada has more women then men competing at these games.
There was at least one, if not a few countries that sent no women participants.

I’d follow the money.
As far as I know, Canadian athletes are funded on merit – those likely to succeed are funded. Regardless if m or f.
Many other countries seem to fund male athletes disproportionately to females. Giving Canadian female athletes an advantage – but leaving Canadian male athletes at a disadvantage. |

We're middle of the pack when the medal hauls are corrected by population. Correct for the high levels of success in woman's events, and we suck. |

Donald Trump issued the following statement:
"By the way, if someone attempts to scale your tower with suction cups, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don't know." |
