I think they will all be in the mix but how many veteran NHL players will sit to make room? Under Babcock I can't see it. Even with Lupul being sat/moved/sent to the island there's still few spots available.

Shanny wanted kessel gone to created a culture change. With kessel’s NMC, options were limited and pitts offered the best deal; they took it.

The one thing they could have done differently that i see is taken back scuderi instead of retaining salary.

Maybe a well respected guy like lou could have convinced scuderi to waive is nmc. Maybe not. But Lou wasn’t there to make the phone call.

It's a long season, he might start out going 30 pts in 45 games then fall off a bit for the rest. Who knows he might be a healthy scratch some nights to, which is fine it might be his 1st full year in the nhl at like 20 years old
