Nah.
He's a GM....he makes trades.
It could have been very good for him he makes the trade and had gotten more back or had the leafs not kept any salary.
Heck even taking the crap we got back.....had the leafs not have to pay 1.5 million for the next 7 years would have improved the trade a great deal. - Fakepartofme
Assuming that he gets more back, or is able to not do the retention is a bit much.
Perhaps he didn't get named gm until after the trade becuase they were already deep into the discussions? Perhaps he knew the leafs wanted to move him at all costs and knew the prices being discussed? |

I’ve always thought that trade was the final indicator that a Senior guy with experience was needed; sooner rather than later.
If that trade was the catalyst for hiring lou, then so be it.

except when you are Lou Lam who's been a GM for the same team for ever....he's never had to clean up another GM's mess - jimi james
So?
Has nothing to do with anything.
He's still a gm. |

I don't think that's how it worked. I don't think shanny saw what happened and said
We need help. Shanny obviously on board with the trade or else it doesn't happen. |

Who knows.
Just saying having Lou do the trade wouldnt have had any negative impact on him as per the previous post. |

Well that's bs, because there is negative impact on the group who actually made it. So saying if Lou did exactly what deal was made no one would have complained is just nonsense. |

Shanny wanted kessel gone to created a culture change. With kessel’s NMC, options were limited and pitts offered the best deal; they took it.
The one thing they could have done differently that i see is taken back scuderi instead of retaining salary.
Maybe a well respected guy like lou could have convinced scuderi to waive is nmc. Maybe not. But Lou wasn’t there to make the phone call.
It’s impossible to too know, but just my guess. |

On the bright side, that should be around the time that the Canucks are out of the playoff race - jimi james
Does that mean we'll have another chance to lose the lottery?!? |

I'd like to see Sutter stay healthy and see how Bo does with 3 legitimate C's.
He's been a slow starter. But he seems to be the real deal. When I say that I mean he looks to be a solid #2 C. |

Yeah, I like Horvat... he had a pretty interesting season last year especially when H. Sedin got injured.... he produced pretty well when given more ice time and powerplay time. |
