Leafs are not trading JVR, he is our only legit 1st line forward. He is one year older than Kadri, so he prolly wont be too old for the rebuild. Our defence will work itself out. Stop trading JVR and stop putting Komarov on the same line as Kadri. end rant |

Komarov probably plays with Matthews....easily a better finisher.

"but getting it done on the NHL level is all about results..."
"Stupid Shanahan. Doesn't he know that the results don't matter, it's all about the process? That's science! This is a fact, and not an opinion!"

Your work in the Canucks thread hasn't gone unnoticed by the way. Keep it up, just having leafsfan in your name sets them off. Probably the most defensive fans base there is - ClarksonDavid
Nothing much to defend if a Leafs/Canucks comparison.
Back on topic...
Upgrade the D is a more glaring need.
If no sensible deal for atop 4 D is to be had then next year or start drafting them.
Gotta give to get or nothing is gained.
Back up goalie is needed but no panic given what is available. |

Oh my god they're the worst. They cry non stop about how they can't stand hearing about the leafs yet they can't go one blog without bringing them up. And also just in general Canucks fans are a bunch of band wagon hopping babies. Look no further than the massive increase in the Seattle Seahawks "fan base" when they got good - westcoastleaf
True for many of the bandwagoners indeed but at least there is a bandwagon to hop onto once in awhile. Those same ppl r hardly true diehard fans like many Leaf fans r.
Both teams true fans suffer but remain loyal. |

Gardiner is okay but Lindholm is the real deal. - ClarksonDavid
He is a stud & would be a great coup if u got him. |
|
|
|
To Anaheim
JVR
Gardiner
2017 2nd
To Toronto
Lindholm
Bieksa
Richie
2017 1st
Anaheim dumps Bieksa but this is a good move for Toronto as they will be able to use Bieksa as a partner for Rielly, or a partner for Lindholm on 2nd pairing, and our first pairing would be Rielly-Zaitsev.
Of course landing Lindholm is a good catch.
This would give Toronto some time to develop our defensive prospects.
We basically upgrade our early 2nd rounder to a mid-late 1st rounder.
Bieksa being traded is a God-send as the Ducks retain Gardiner and they can protect Fowler, Vatanen and Gardiner.
The Leafs grab a future 2nd line bruiser with some needed muscle in the top-six in Richie.
Leafs projection in two years:
Richie-Matthews-Marner
Soshnikov-Kadri-Nylander
Hyman-Gauthier-Brown
Rychel-Komorov-Leivo
Rielly-Zaitsev
Lindholm-Carrick
Marincin-Bieksa
Andersen
Sparks/Bibeau - LukeHerrington
it's fair, because according to tanner, Gardiner is a top pairing defensemen

Meh, I'd avoid them. I'd much prefer, from an outside perspective, one of the other options. I wouldn't want to trade anything of value for either of those contracts.
If the Leafs were a cup contending team and needed a backup to help rest their #1 for the playoffs and could fit the contract under the cap, I'd say go for it. But what does the few wins they may bring really matter? |

The 1st from Anaheim should be dropped from the proposal.
Other than that I approve this trade proposal. |

Serious question - Is that really an important objective at this point? I mean, obviously nice to make them, but you're still only in the beginning of shanaloucock's plan. |

With all due respect, Bennington and Wedgewood are both the same age as Sparks with the same amount of experience. I also would have a hard time believing NJ would give up Wedgewood for such a low cost. |

Options are thin and recent history proved that veteran backups can be as bad as any rookie while costing a lot of money. Go Sparks. |

It should be the objective every year....rebuild or not.
Or else why are you playing?
Now, whether its a attainable or not....well that's a different story. But the mentality has to be there. |

Sparks #'s were worse than bernier's last year.
i'm not sure he's an option for this year. |
