Anaheim dumps Bieksa but this is a good move for Toronto as they will be able to use Bieksa as a partner for Rielly, or a partner for Lindholm on 2nd pairing, and our first pairing would be Rielly-Zaitsev.
Of course landing Lindholm is a good catch.
This would give Toronto some time to develop our defensive prospects.
We basically upgrade our early 2nd rounder to a mid-late 1st rounder.
Bieksa being traded is a God-send as the Ducks retain Gardiner and they can protect Fowler, Vatanen and Gardiner.
The Leafs grab a future 2nd line bruiser with some needed muscle in the top-six in Richie.
Leafs projection in two years:
Richie-Matthews-Marner
Soshnikov-Kadri-Nylander
Hyman-Gauthier-Brown
Rychel-Komorov-Leivo
Rielly-Zaitsev
Lindholm-Carrick

Oh my god they're the worst. They cry non stop about how they can't stand hearing about the leafs yet they can't go one blog without bringing them up. And also just in general Canucks fans are a bunch of band wagon hopping babies. Look no further than the massive increase in the Seattle Seahawks "fan base" when they got good |

What's it like going from Kiprusoff to jack poop in net? The Leafs were no better lol, but we haven't had a good goalie since Belfour..
Ps. I think Ramo is better too, but that's not saying much. - Arctic_AARDVARK
It's been a pretty painful couple of years
On the brightside, without Kipper stealing us a bunch of wins every year we were finally able to bottom out and get some high end forwards in the draft...those years of finishing 9th in the west were way more painful to watch than the last couple seasons!
I really liked Ramo and hope he finds his way onto another team, be a shame for his NHL career to end with a blown out knee I think he could be at least equal to Enroth and could even outperform his contract if he's given a chance (maybe you guys can trade another goalie for assets at the TDL). But it's looking like he's not going to get a shot with anyone which is too bad, seemed like a pretty good dude in the dressing room. |

Such a bad trade for Anaheim - ClarksonDavid
Okay, how?
They get a 1st line winger who they could probably resign around 5.5M long term after two years at 4.25M, a top-4 defensemen to replace Lindholm while shredding Bieksas NMC so they are able to keep up to 4, depending on expansion roster choice, of their best defensemen (Fowler, Vatanen, Gardiner, Despres etc).
They downgrade their late first for a early 2nd so they only move down 10-15 slots max.
Richie is at least two years away from being a top six presence meanwhile Kesler, Getz and Perry are not getting any younger.
JVR fits short term because of his age and long term because they have a lot of time to resign him.
I could potentially see a B rated prospect like Leipsic, Leivo or maybe Hyman but nothing more then that going with what's already in place.
How is this a bad trade for Anaheim? |

Bozak contract done by then. - burn
Is that not a fair trade proposal?
I think it makes a butt load of sense for both teams.
Leafs end up with more defensively sound #3 dman in Lindholm, and Fowler is kept as the #1 with Vatanen as the #2 and Gardiner being the #4 on the 2nd pairing with Despres on his right side.
They get a huge upgrade in the top-six with a proven 30G/60P on a very mediocre 1st line of Bozak and Kessel/Lupul. Playing with Perry and Getzlaf would give him a boat load of goals and assists I'd say.
JVR also has experience under Carlyle and if I recall he played well in that half season of glory we had a few years back.
Leafs get a hulking mammoth of a player who even if he ends up as a 40P 3rd line winger I'd be more then happy with.
Along with Martin, Kadri, Polak, Valiev and Komorov I don't think we are as soft as once portrayed.
I think it's a solid trade. |

Lindholm is not a #3,hes more like a#1.(at least on the leafs he is)Murray laughs at that offer. You would be very lucky to get Lindholm for JVR + let alone all that. |
