I don't care about specific stats, Corsi or anything else. I'd take all 20 of those guys before Hall. Now, that would be for a current situation only, not basing it on building for the future, etc.

Taylor Hall is a top 10 player in this league right now. I'd take him over Towes any day.

Is that you Steve Tambellini?

Do you realize how good of year Pavelski had last year? And since Tavares has enter the league 2009/10, Tavares only scored him by 35 points. Now the future for Tavares is brighter because he's 7 years younger. But don't put down Pavelski because you don't watch him.

One year doesn't mean ๐Ÿ’ฉ. Tavares is a better player. Don't be stupid. Oh wait. You already are a Ranger fan. Sorry

This is where I don't like adavanced stats. Tavares is the better player and will be going forward because he's almost a decade younger. But Pavelski a demon on the power play and given the importance on scoring you can't hold Pavelski's special team success against him. Tavares is better but it's not a travesty having Tavares 7th and Pavelski 6th. It's not like were talking Rick Nash vs John Taavares here.

You just admitted Tavares was better after saying he wasn't. You're as confused as my Bi-sexual dog

Tavares did have more primary points than Pavelski last year though.
- Feds91Stammer

Sure, I'll take your word for it, and Pavelski had more goals than Tavares. Primary points are not the ultimate authority on who is the better player. Which is exactly why it is a matter of opinion because the two players are a lot closer (especially right now) than that NYI homer wants to make it out to be.

Not saying it is but right now today based on the information at hand if I have to pick between the 2 for a 7 game series I'm taking Tavares without a doubt.

The top 10 are mostly interchangeable depending on the year and how healthy guys are, except Crosby who was the best player in the league from December on and is head and shoulders above the other 9. Will Kane out score Malkin in 2016 (if Malkin is healthy???) Is Benn better then Tavares or is he simply surrounded by more talent?

If we go back to the most recent set of playoffs I think it is very close, but I give the edge to Pavelski.

From what I've read/seen Pavelski is a versatile, utility player who can be counted on to perform effectively in many different situations, including taking important defensive draws and possessing a responsible 200 ft game.

The biggest revelation for me about Tavares these playoffs was when it was almost unanimously understood by HB Isle fans to be a bad decision on Cappys part to play JT at the end of an important game when they were defending a tie/lead. They ended up losing the game and the series.

We are talking about someone being a top 10 all around forward in the league and the majority of the fan base rips on the coach for trusting this guy with the most important minutes of the game? Give me a break. Before all of that I wouldn't have batted an eye at choosing JT over Pavelski but having so many Isles fans confirm JT's defensive woes was revealing to me.

Looking at the list, not sure I disagree with his exclusion at this point. There are a lot of really talented forwards in the league and Hall is probably just on the outside of the top 20. That said, anyone comparing Taylor Hall to Hudler is a moron.

I see nothing wrong with the list. I think the order is bit off, but as a whole it is good. Who would you take out for Hall?

If we are talking about building a team for the next 10 years, there are some older guys I would pass over for Hall. If we are talking about building a team just for next season, then I believe all those guys are ahead of Hall.

Taylor Hall is a talented Plug. He has more drive and tenacity, but he has way less skill than a Phil Kessel. Hall gets it done by willpower alone and that is commendable. While a guy like Kessel...if he consistently had the will power of a Hall... he would be.. (they havent invented an adjective for this yet)

Hall = speed and tenacity and will power and effort (but not so much skill. If I was D facing him 1 on 1(unless there was a situational jump) this Taylor Hall plug would have to shoot from the outside and hope for the best.

Thus,Taylor Hall traded for Larson..... not Hedman.
I personally dont think the trade was as lopsided as some claim

Hall is a one-dimensonal player. Sure he gets takeaways and is really fast but he is also a turnover machine and not very good defensively, has a mediocre shot and poor hands.
- Vanillaface

And this post is moronic. Quit trying to justify the trade mr Chiarelli.

I don't know how you can call a team with 4 #1 picks a terrible team unless those players aren't very good. When Hall cracks 30 goals he might be considered a top 20 player. Until then he's somewhere in the top 50.
- Razzdazzle1

Typical clueless fan.
Add to that an unabashed oiler hater and u get this kind of post

Halls been underrated by the masses who know nothing about him for too long.
As if the plethora of holes in the lineup, missteps and inaction early in his career by management are irrelevant and the losing is his fault

The guy is a beast and a top 3 left winger in the game beyond a doubt

If New Jersey can build a winner or even sneak into the playoffs, the haters will see the light. Till then, he gets snubbed and Unfairly branded

It's true. 90% of his shots are slapped from the top of the circle that hit the goalies crest because he doesn't have the skills to beat defenders one on one

Pavelski is a RW/C. I'm sure he could play LW, but he hasn't with any regularity.

Gaudreau maybe, but your same concerns of being a one-dimensional player exist with him so it's raw offense. He's had FAR stronger backend support though, so it's tough to compare. At least close.

Pacioretty is close and an argument can be made. Consistent 60-point player, 30 goal scorer, and kills some penalties. Certainly close.

Including Marchand in there is a joke. He's only even been near the same league this last year. Until he does it again, not even close. Somehow you managed to miss Ovechkin.

he's not too far outside of the top 20.

nothing to sweat about

- Lucas.Neilson

This is true & until he impacts on a game more often it will remain true.
Points r only a small factor. Hall can or will be a top 20 if he rounds out better.

We Canuck fans don't agree with Kaaptan on anything either๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Kessel did not crack the top 20 either.
Hall n Kessel r not complete players by any stretch of the imagination.
Offensively gifted but pretty much ends there. Nothing wrong with that.

And Thornton put up 63 more points than Pavelski. Pavelski isn't even the best player on his own team.

The big difference is when you look at 5v5 primary points.

Tavares - 230
Thornton - 185
Pavelski - 195

- Feds91Stammer

Pavelski & Burns r the best Sharks hands down.
