Cause I'm bored, and there really isn't much hockey stuff to talk about. What are everyone's top 3 favorite all time movies?

Mine are:

1. Casablanca
Every scene is a gem and every line is perfect. Also features an absolutely amazing cast.

2. Tie- The Godfather parts 1 & 2
Really hard to choose between the 2, they are basically one long film, IMO. So many great scenes and lines from these films!

3. Rocky
None of the sequels even came close to the original. Stallone wrote a brilliant script and played the character to perfection. The ultimate underdog story.

Your turn!

I'm not the biggest movie guy around. Instead of playing the top 3 game, I'll just give you my favorites.

The Dark Knight, The Sting, Blazing Saddles, Airplane, Fletch, Spinal Tap, Shutter Island, The Shining

Best worst movies imo:
Troll 2 (a movie about goblins, with a script that sounds like it was run through Google Translate and back)
The Last Dragon (this movie features the best room trashing scene since Citizen Kane)
Hard Ticket to Hawaii (this film is of the quality you'd expect from two 80's Playboy playmates)

I omitted The Room, it didn't seem fair. Everybody should see it once, tho.

This is the Corsi-est top 3 ever

Does anyone actually love a Kubrick movie? They're genius and so is he. They're intellectually stimulating and profound thematically and aesthetically. But they're all so cold and clinical, minus his early ones. On a "best" movie list many fit in for me. On a "favorite" movie list, I find them too hard or impossible even to latch onto emotionally. Based on my own internal nonsense categorizations, if I can't say I love a movie, I find it hard to say it's a favorite. IMO!

Oh, and Before Sunset is my favorite one of the trilogy. Actually saw that one first oddly enough.

I can watch Kill Bill (1 and 2) and 1-3 of the Bourne movies over and over. Lawrence of Arabia is pretty amazing on the big screen. As far as comedies I'd go with High Anxiety and The Producers over Blazing Saddles. Got to add Mrs Doubtfire too.

I really like-to the border of love-some of his films. The Shining, Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket and Spartacus. One that I do really love is Dr Strangelove, although admittedly, that has as much to do with the cast-especially Sellers, Scott and Pickens-as it does with Kubrick's work as a filmmaker.

Conversely, I am pretty much a total Coens fan boy. Whether it's a comedy like Lebowski or a more earnest film like No Country for Old Men, if it's by Joel and Ethan, I'm likely going to be a huge fan.

Dr. Strangelove is one of the earlier ones I was referencing. Paths of Glory too deserves mention. But by 2001 on, masterpieces as many may be, I'm always struck by how little I feel when watching them -- they're exercises of the mind and art. They're "GREAT" films to me. I think 2001 deserves mention in the all time top 10. It's sort of like talking about James Joyce's Ulysses or something. It's really just me being.....semantical

I'm a big Coen Bros fan too. They are the finest American writer-directors today I think. Fun fact: they've actually never made a movie that takes place out of the US. And they cover every last region and genre of it. They are (frank)ing national treasures.
