Dumb and Dumber, Lion King, Cast Away, We Were Soldiers, Gladiator. Kingdom of Heaven. Romancing the stone (for a cheesy oldie)

Bond, but the one's with Brosnan. Goldeneye.

Cause I'm bored, and there really isn't much hockey stuff to talk about. What are everyone's top 3 favorite all time movies?

Mine are:

1. Casablanca
Every scene is a gem and every line is perfect. Also features an absolutely amazing cast.

2. Tie- The Godfather parts 1 & 2
Really hard to choose between the 2, they are basically one long film, IMO. So many great scenes and lines from these films!

3. Rocky
None of the sequels even came close to the original. Stallone wrote a brilliant script and played the character to perfection. The ultimate underdog story.

Your turn!

1.) GF 1 and 2. If you ever get the chance, watch these movies cut in chronological order. You can actually find it out there somewhere. It adds to the richness of the story. Also, the Godfather is one of the few examples where the movie far surpasses the book. The Godfather novel by Mario Puzo is kind of pedestrian and goes off on silly tangents (no one cares about Lucy Mancini).

2.) The original Star Wars trilogy. Yes, even the one with the teddy bears beating the Empire.

3.) Almost Famous. I have a huge soft spot for this flick. Philip Seymour Hoffman as Lester Bangs is flipping genius.

The Sure Thing - My go to movie when I'm not feeling myself.

Clerks - Not so unlike my time spent in the 80s except without colour film and all the alcohol.

Evil Dead - I shouldn't even have to explain this one.

RE: Rocky

Agree the sequels don't come close to the original, but the sequels have some great characters, quotable lines, etc.

Mr. T as Clubber Lang was the best.

Clerks fell just outside of my top 3. Still love that movie.

87 team was, without a doubt, the most offensively talented team put together. Defensively, meh and not even close to the 2002, 2010 or 2014 teams. CRossman and Rochefort?

How good was that Russian team? Pretty damn good. It would have been interesting to see what the "K" of "KLM" could have done if he could have put the bottle down.

Top 3? Can be fluid, but typically contains:
1) It's a Wonderful Life;
2) Field of Dreams; and
3) The Shawshank Redemption.

BiggE's choices typically make my top 10.

Three greats. I personally think The Two Towers is the best of the three and would be in my top 5.

I've been watching this off and on since they have been showing it so often. I may bandy about the order of the top 5 a bit, but I think the ranks are pretty much close enough for government work.

It's about right. Frankly it might even be a bit generous on reputation. But the same could be said for a handful of players before him (*cough* Stamkos @ 11 *cough*)

He has written some great stuff. Shawshank being the best of the stuff you didn't know he actually wrote.

Different Seasons produced two really great movies. And one not so great movie....lol

I like all 3, but honestly, the Treebeard portion of it brings down the Two Towers, and the Battle of Pellennor Field is just amazing which puts it on top to me. But to me, they're all 4 star movies.

No series of movies leaves me shaking my head in amazement that they pulled it off like LoTR. The years of sleepless nights for Jackson, scripts for 2 and 3 written on the fly, endless reshoots, the denseness and epicness needing to be conveyed so precisely. It's a filmmaking wonder that felt ready to spiral out of control at any time.

Return of the King is my favorite as well.

I liked Helms Deep, perhaps the greatest battle scene ever filmed. But Pellennor was awesome too no doubt.
