Nope, the only date that would affect anything is signing them before playoffs so they can be eligible to play (I dont remember the date, but its around the TDL), otherwise they remain property and are labelled "selfish/entitled" during their holdouts

No thoughts. D too valuable. Filling one hole and creating another makes no sense. Unless it's an extreme overpayment from another team (Hall-Larsson).

I'm having a tough time finding specific info on this topics (lots of qualifying and offer sheet info tho) - so players like Gaudreau and Monahan declined their qualifying offer, they remain RFAs - they don't have the right to arbitration - so therefore they could potentially start the season without a contract?
