No rush. Top 3 pick next year. Playoffs in 2019.
- cracka

2018 hopefully. 2017 if we're lucky.

I'm talking about that as if this upcoming season is 2016 btw lol.

He will be among the first coaches fired this year. Good luck on the rebuild - between Sweeney and Julien the Bruins are in deep poop.
- winsix

Julien will not be fired. The Bruins are a playoff team.

Sweeney has done a great job. Unlike many other teams, they didn't have to go through a 10 year rebuild to replenish our prospect pool. Our prospect pool is as deep and talented as we've ever seen.

No mention of the Nylander brothers in a Buffalo-Toronto comparison blog?

I'm really excited to see a full NHL year for Willie - & Alex is gonna be a stud winger as well

Not sure I understand the comparison. Buffalo has some serious NHL talent in their line up. Not sure you can say the same for the Leafs. I like van Riemsdyk and Reilly. But there is not very much after that and I have grave doubts about the winning potential of all the little forwards the Leafs have drafted.
- spatso

So, you advocate we go back to the Burke strategy of drafting size over skill?

Not sure if Bruins are a playoff team this year but lets play the season and find out. Bruins still have a good core but injuries can reduce their effectiveness.

Leafs still a season or more away from the playoffs.

Sabres are further along in their rebuild due to tanking earlier and harder. Eichel and O'Reilly are nice centers but Kane issues and others' under performance still huge question marks.

ELC bonuses are a major Cap question area for the Leafs. Leafs have LTIR Robidas Island to provide Cap room but LTIR room doesn't apply to bonuses.

Bruins are a playoff team even though they missed last year and haven't improved?

How has Sweeney done a great job?

you do realize your over the top bias towards the leafs has discredited any opinion you have of the leafs right?

nobody here takes you seriously... you are viewed as nothing more than a hater clown.

stop disrupting these leaf threads with your hate or you wont post with this account for the entirety of next season.

Yup.

Says leafs fans are losers for "summer talk" (still haven't see his evidence) and then turns around and blows his load about how great the sens summer transactions.

Chastises people for pointing out the sens management said "disappointed with chabot camp" because it's a nothing prospects camp, he's going to be a superstar...... Calls mRner wjc camp terrible (cause he was terrible against the fins, who he didn't play against)

But he says he's not a troll and just here to talk hockey peacefully.

He's a joke.

Buffalo started unloading 3-4 years ago to get to this point of somewhat upward swing (let's hope), while Toronto I feel still has a couple years to go, definitely not one. I could honestly see the Leafs finishing 30th again this year which wouldn't be a bad thing. You need the top end talent to win if you do it correctly. What other team than Toronto is worse off roster-wise going into 16-17?

As for Buffalo' bad contracts, Tyler Ennis, really? He's scored three 20 goal seasons on some of the worst offensive teams in history and makes 4.6/year. Bogosian had a nice end to his year and while slightly overpaid is still a top 4 dman. Kane needs to have a big year and while he's an immature punk at least he has the potential to do something big still.

I believe the Bruins are probably a playoff team this year if all goes to plan, but can't see them going deep with their current defense unless they improve it at deadline. Love the McCavoy pick at the draft though, that could be a steal.

Backes, a third liner? You probably should look up his stats over his career. Backes is the type of player you need in the playoffs.
- Bruiniak

Why does boston need him then?

what i find most discomforting about all of this, is that spatso actually has right to vote (or within a few years when turning 18).

With the Atlantic being as weak as it is, it wouldn't surprise me to see one of these teams qualify for the playoffs. Both teams are signficantly better than Ottawa, Detroit and Montreal.
- Bruiniak

If price is healthy, Montreal is probably a playoff team.

yeah i didnt get the ennis comment truthfully... the leafs are easily 2-3 years away from being a serious candidate for the post season... although what Mike was talking about in regards to 1 year is with the exception of lupul, most (very close to all) the bad contracts the leafs are carrying end. it wasnt a reference to when the leafs will be competitive again.

Okay gotchya I mis-read that. The current Leafs management has been astounding to say the least in terms of cap management, getting rid of the Kessel Phaneuf and Clarkson contracts in a year is mind blowing. I'm hoping Buffalo can unload Moulson next summer but that's probably our only true anchor after the young kids ELC's expire.
