Shatten plays right side doesn't he? If he played left I'd consider it contingent upon an extension, but Habs don't need any more right side D we're good there.

Markov does not have many years left he can play on 3rd pairing with sergachev, shatty 1st line, weber 2nd line, markov 3rd line

Would a 1st from Nj, Boucher, and quenneville be enough? Idk if that's an overpayment or not enough but I doubt St. Louis trades shattenkirk without getting an nhl player back, but otherwise I don't really see how he gets to New Jersey. Maybe DSP instead of quenneville?

Well at least the Blues are not forking over assets like some gm's on some teams.

Blues could trade Shatty without getting an NHL player in return, good prospects and a high draft would be nice. We have players in the system possibly ready and Parayko needs to get his ice time. He replaces Shattenkirk

with Sobotka coming back apparently we have our offensive lineup set with 2 guys now on 1 way contracts, Jaskin and Rattie.

Cant see us taking on another contract at this point as they should be at almost the cap ceiling

I don't understand. Yes Montreal and NJ need defense. The latter more but you have to think the Oil would be the call you would return. They traded their highest scorer and point producer (every year since he was drafted) for an unproven Larsson. If the Oil will give up Hall for Larsson you have to think that Shattenkirk is worth the rest of the Oilers roster.

Oilers could have had Shattenkirk+ for Hall. They wanted just Larrson instead. Having spent money on free agents, Blues likely don't want to spend the cap space for Eberle, or have interest in RNH. Oilers don't want to give up Nurse or Klefbom for Shattenkirk. And Blues probably don't want to add what it would take to get Draisaitl or Puljujärvi. I don't actually see a realistic deal between the teams. The Oilers shot at Shattenkirk likely ended on July 1.

I have been ignoring the news since the trade. I hope this isn't true. Shattenkirk is tons better than Larsson will ever dream of being. I also think Klef and Nurse are tradeable for a true 1-2 Dman. I agree though. They won't get a deal done.

And you have been making posts since the beginning of time that even fans of the team you claim to cheer for that 99% of the rest of that fan base begs people to ignore. 90% of the hockey world agrees that this deal made the Oilers better as a team, but you choose to ignore it. You choose to believe that this deal made the team worse than they were for the past 6 years. Yes Hall was an elite player. Yes they couldve/should've gotten a little more back, but they didn't. Quit crying about it and change your team to the Devils already so the Oilers fan base can stop defending the stupidity spewed from your posts.
