I have absolutely no idea who and or what you are referring to. That being said, yes, yes you can.

This guy. He's from the game Overwatch. I'm just thinking about his shot suppression numbers.

I always thought the Av's were, or had a "self imposed salary structure" as well.
Is it true they have an unwritten rule that no one gets more than Matt's $6m a year?
Not trolling, but I always wondered this when looking at the core players, cap, etc.

edit My bad, I forgot MacKinnion signed for $6.3m a year.

Its been a lazy narrative for writers the last few years. Sakic and Roy said it 3 years ago when talking about Stastny resigning....Duchene is our best player at 6m so its hard press to sign guys more than that.

But they offered 6.6mx4 years for Stastny to stay in the end, offered ROR 7m when he wanted 8x8 from the Avs...now just resigned MacKinnon for 6.3m.

Its not this hard enforced 6m cap, yet most Media keeps on writing the same things about the Avs....an internal cap and a budget team, without even looking at how they have been spending the past 3 years.

If Edmonton really wanted barrie the deal would of be done and over with, and hall or dristel or nurse would be in an avs sweater. Also how is our financial situation bad? This year is tight but all our core guys are signed (it's there prove it year something management have publicly said) theyll be here for 3 years, we will have 12 plus m to spend next year, plus someone going to Vegas, and the possibility of a trade to let a young guy in. I 5hink the avs have done very very well signing our core guys to great deals, signing depth to great deals and have learnt how to do it to.

Taking another look at the cap, and they about $1.5m under, so yeah, definitely not a budget team. I hope they keep Varly next year, (with the expansion draft looking).
I think he's very underrated

and 2 seasons ago that they were 1-2m away from the Cap as well. They spend money just they lose Stastny and ROR bc of Cap issues and it just turns into a budget team with an internal budget, etc.

The team just couldnt afford to keep all those guys without having depth throughout the line up. Its not that hard to see but its just easier to write the avs off as a poor managed budget team.

Varly wont be going anywhere. They will protect Duchene, MacKinnon, Landeskog, Grigorenko, Johnson, Barrie, Zadorov, Beauchemin (NMC) and Varly.

Pickard, Soderberg, Comeau, Colborne will be the guys that Vegas can pick from (unless they can move Beauchemins NMC)

For expansion i think it will depend on how picks plays. If he comes in and just lights it up I could see them protecting him over varly. Grigs will depend on how he grows this year. If he doesn't improve to a point where he's not a lock in the top 6 for the for see able future I think they keep soderberg. Just my take though.

Also is there an RFA clause in the expansion draft when picking players? I juts feel like there should be something in the rules when picking players who just came off there elc. Maybe not after there second contract and still an RFA after.

I dont see it happening, no way do they protect Pickard over Varly. There will be better options in the draft for Goalies than Pickard so thats somethign they dont really have to worry about.

Miller and Bishop will be UFAs, Jets will expose Pavelec, MAF/Murray debate in Pittsburgh. Howard/Mrazek in Detroit. Vegas wont be picking Pickard to be their number 1 and they wouldnt be picking him to just be their back up.

I wouldnt mind losing the Soderberg contract though, hes a good player but to get out of those last 2 years of the contract wont be the worst thing.
I dont see the Avs losign Grigorenko for nothing, hes still Roys boy. It woudl be admitting a lose in the ROR trade if they let him go for nothing.

Avs will still have MacK, Dutch, Grigorenko, Compher, and Colborne as Cs if they lose Soderberg in the expansion draft. UFA there are Wingers like Marchand, Stafford, Radulov, Oshie as early options. You could move that 4.5m into one of those players to help fix a Wing issue

Yep those are other solid choices to get over picks. My 2 reasons to choice picks over varly are: 1) grion issues. 2) 5.9 cap hit gone. But having that number 1 goalie who I think will have another great year because of a better d in front of him, and it gives picks more time to mature to a number 1 goalie are reasons to protect varly.

I still think in order for Grigs to be protected he needs to have a good season. Soderberg is a great guy to have, he can play c on all 3 lines and put up great points. We know what we have in him. Grigs just needs to show it. Granted if he has a crappie season we might no have to protect him because they might pick Comeau or Colburne up. But that 4.5 my off would be nice . Compher could probably take his role next year. And we have Jost too at center. Exciting time! Just want camp to start!

Wow the Avs are committed to being handcuffed for the next couple of years while right up against the cap with no room for movement...sure Iginla comes off the books next year but holy crap...good luck if anything goes sideways during the season...guaranteed this does not end well...
