what's interesting is that anytime somebody talks about Emile Francis, it's they would have won in '72 if Ratelle didn't get hurt....Shero would have won in '79 if Ulf Nilsson or JD didn't get hurt....

IDK man our defense was in shambles by the end of that Tampa series. Not sure if we could have lasted against Chicago. I still think our best shot was LA, just needed a couple of bounces.

I think it's just when people look at the past, they always say injuries prevented the Rangers from going all the way (the curse) and all that stuff.

But, when looking at the reason we didn't win it all in 2014 and 2015, AV gets to much blame IMO

When a team loses in the SCF, it's tough to scapegoat one person in particular. At the end of the day, the coaches and the players both deserve some blame for giving up like 4 2 goal leads to LA in the SCF.

Different coaching adjustments could have been made to protect those leads better (or rather, stay on the offensive better as it seemed the team would fall into a shell to protect it and let LA attack wave after wave with them inevitably scoring) and the individual players themselves could have made better plays too.

With that said, AV is an elite coach and even getting us too that point is a huge accomplishment. I wouldn't really blame him solely for those losses and he's gotta be one of the top coaches in Rangers history.
