They call me Leo to the D-R-eezee
I dangle snipe celly on your team way too easy
I'm just way too shifty, coaches double shift me
You can't stop me, knock me or drop me
You try to hit me? That's a misdemeanor
2 minutes in the box, call that interference
Back door is where you'll find me
I ain't talking about the crease
I'm talking about the 5 hole I'm hitting on your slampiece

I would really like to see a blog on predictions for each player this year. like points and line predictions. I am very interested to see how MZ does this year. - richardson30
A) a bit early for that
b) not my bag since purely speculating with little basis of fact
c) know it will generate conversation but it's like spitting in the wind right now and hoping not to get hit
in my opinion, Alain Vigneault is probably 4rd on this list of names after Patrick, Francis and Boucher
Keenan is like in his own category, his did the impossible and bailed, if people wanna put him at the top that's fine with me.
What was striking to me about the conversation is I just can't believe how much HATRED there is in Rangerland towards AV. I do not get it. It's kinda sick and really makes me worry about this fanbase and how dumb we are.
Alain Vigneault is a better Ranger coach than Fred Shero was, it's not even debatable. Shero was run out of town 20 games into his 3rd season with a 4-13-3 record and the Rangers had to give their 1978 first round pick to the Flyers to get him.
People invent their own history and don't actually learn history anymore.

Sheep and Ferguson were an interesting combo. He led the team to the 79 Cup Finals and might have won it if JD was healthy and Bunny Laroque hadn't gotten hurt, forcing Ken Dryden back in.
For all the criticisms of AV, and lord knows the blog comments have highlighted them, he still led the Rangers to the SCF and ECF his first two years. But the criticism has far outweighed the praise for many or most.

Now this is a fun topic. I agree about Keenan, 1 yr & he wins a Cup. How can he not be in the Top 3? BUT...he was clearly negotiating a way to get out of town as the Rangers were closing in on the Cup that June. How the (frank) can a man do that? And then remember he b!atched like a baby about the media going overboard prior to Game 5 against Vancouver.
After Iron Mike left NY he NEVER even sniffed coming close to having a team compete for a Cup again.

Want to know something, I thought Colin Campbell was a very good Coach & surprised he's never been giving anoter shot, unless he is just more comfortable having a cushy league job.
Especially during the 1997 playoffs he totally outcoached both McCLAIN in Florida & Jacque Lemaire in NJ during those 2 playoff series, mixing & matching & with a number of key players out found a way to make it work.

what's interesting is that anytime somebody talks about Emile Francis, it's they would have won in '72 if Ratelle didn't get hurt....Shero would have won in '79 if Ulf Nilsson or JD didn't get hurt....
so, why don't people say AV would have won the Cup in 2015 if Zuccarello hadn't gotten hurt?

the 1997 playoffs were both awesome and really weird. Every goal looked at to see if there was a skate in the crease, ultimately we really were manhandled by Lindros & Co, but it was a fun ride

Injuries in 72 and 79 hurt as well as no Zucc against TB. But in 97, no Sundstrom, Potsie and Kovalev killed their shot. Even if just Sundstrom and Potsie were healthy, I think they might have beaten Philly.
