Ive mentioned it twice the last few days with no response.
How do people feel about a Klein trade?
Does it make more sense to leave him available for the expan draft? Kinda feel like that's losing an asset for nothing but at the same time he could protect someone else on the roster. I just feel like yes, that MDZ for KK trade has worked out GREAT for the team but how much more quality minutes can you keep expecting outa him. |

Seems like GM's are going to wait until, at least, the deadline before they start making trades to pass off guys who they can't/won't protect that have a chance of getting taken. I would expect that immediately following the conclusion of the Cup this season, we'll see a slew of trades happen. |

I think we'll have to wait and see how the season unfolds. Maybe Girardi is miserable and we buy him out which frees up a slot to protect Klein? |

I say keep him unless you are getting a much younger NHL caliber player. |

I think it should be entertained. It would be a "sell high" mentality and I'd absolutely hate to lose him to expansion. If Staal and/or Girardi can be moved and Klein protected, then I would not deal him until after the expansion draft. He will not be affordable to keep once he hits free agency in a few years. He's an absolute steal in terms of performance and salary. |

You trade Klein which is fine, but that means the right side of the blue line would be Girardi, Mcilrath and Clendening. That's gonna be a problem no matter if Mcilrath get's better or not. |

You cant trade Klein until you see what the young guys can do. Right now, he is in your top 3 defensemen. Trading him would put more pressure on a younger guy or more minutes on a possibly deteriorating Girardi / Staal. They would have to wait to the trade deadline, unless they are getting back an NHL ready and quality defensemen who can take his spot in the lineup

I think you can opnly really do it now if Skjei can play the right side. Also, like Feds said Im only really doing it for a young NHL caliber player. I wanna see Gorton start a trend with selling high on guys who surely wont be able to maintain their level in a year or 2 which unfortunately I see happening with Klein. I really think we got the best outa him |

You gotta look at team who "desperate" to make the playoffs to start. That eliminates 2/3rd's of the league. You're going to have cherry pick teams like the Canadiens, Avalanche, Boston, Winnipeg. You may be able to include Dallas, I just don't see them dealing for a d-man, maybe a goalie. |

I think contenders would definitely value Klein as well due to his very low cap hit. But it gets tricky as you may need to find a contender who is willing and able to protect him from the draft, and I'm not sure there are many. |

Or just a contender that is going for it like the rangers went for it with Yandle at the trade deadline (If the Rangers are out of it, or feel they can sacrifice him because they have a solid 6/7 Dmen without him) |

That's true too. A team like Chicago may go all in at the deadline again for Klein even though they're full aware they may lose him.
But also, doesn't Klein only have 2 more years on his deal? So at the time of the expansion draft, it'll be just 1? Maybe the Knights choose a different player from us who is locked in longer term or will remain an RFA? |

The Rangers should resign Dan Boyle so the Knights can take him. |

Jimbo whats your take on Klein? |
|
|
|
not sure why it really matters at this point what he did/didn't do in terms of performance..he's gone..let'st discuss possible moves prior to the season.. how about talking about vermette for a 1 year deal on the cheap?? - mattstake
I adddd Moore because I said I would try and provide a grade for all players. In terms of Vermette, this is what I wrote in the blog: "I could see Antoine Vermette, who also wins draws and is a possible scoring option from the fourth line, added to the roster. Though his numbers took a major nose dive and he is better suited to second rather than fourth line duty." |

Moore : age hit hard last yr... a lot of hockey for him since a NYR
should retire? i wish him well..........
Vermette : hes a 2nd line type? may not still ?
why would we expect him to play a dirty 4th line role? not his game
we have the makings of a top notch 4th line ..Oscar when healthy
will pay his dues & be a contingency if injury happens in #1&2 lines
Joors or Jooris also a very solid center or just 4th liner....we have
more than enough talent to make the 4th line a factor...........Hrivik i like too
grabner gerbe along with a few more ..
Hayes could have Fast for responsibilty reasons & J T /Bushny
Vermette even bouhgt out wont fit good ...I M O |
