Fantastic read, Bill.

It's amazing how the Mickey family view his brief time as a Flyer, especially since it really came before the Cup teams and sustained period of excellence that followed. It's awesome how Cory reached out to you afterwards and it's great that he is working to instill the lessons his dad taught him in a new generation of players.

Really enjoyed this story. All the best to Cory and his family.

- Jsaquella

Agreed - excellent read, Bill. Awesome to hear how important the Flyers (or any other team for that matter) can be to players, even if they only had short stays.

Primanti Bros opening 20 minutes from Lititz.

Don't know how to feel about this

EDIT: I actually know how to think about this: Pittsburgh trash opening up on the Philly side. Fries go on the side of your sandwich, losers. Oh, and you don't make a reuben with coleslaw, you make it with sauerkraut. Jesus. Pittsburgh can't even do food right.

We got each one of them on the downsides of their respective careers.

Forsberg was the most frustrating for me, because I would have liked to see what he could have done here if his feet were right.

- johndewar

Forsberg was equally as frustrating for me. He reminded me a lot like when Lindros was a Flyer. Dominant when he played but you never knew when he was going to play.

To each of their credit, Foppa is one of the best playmakers if not the best in Flyers recent history. Once he set up on that right half wall on the Power Play, you couldn't take the puck from him and he could feed anyone no matter where they were.

JR didn't bring the offense he once was capable of but he was passionate. What he lacked in offense, he made up with by willing to play every situation offered to him and hard work. He was our first line center but could play wing, anywhere on the PP, even killed penalties, including when other team had a two man advantage. Jeremy Roenick was still a gifted two way center as a Flyer.

Chris Pronger though just put us over the top no away the other two guys couldn't. Even in a fast game, where he lacked foot speed, he could make everyone on the ice play to his level. Dirtiest player I've ever seen at the top of anyone's game. Smart. I just felt like Pronger could do anything but skate.

Pronger should have been nominated for the Norris his first season as a Flyer. His balanced season was overlooked by Mike Green's offense.

if a Primantis opens in philly they will sell big time imo.

Even if not primante brothers if you opened a shop with those type of sandwiches they would sell.

$130 for slow stopping a badly misplaced stop sign.

3 points against my license is what pisses me off. It's nothing but a trap for people exiting a crappy mall.

- mayorofangrytown

Was there a 24" white stop bad adjacent to the stop sign?

If no white bar, it's an improperly placed stop sign and your ticket would be thrown out.

There are mom and pop sandwich shops in Philly that put that slop to shame.

Keep that poop on the other side of the state, along with the meth labs and the inbreeding.

“The time between when I quit hockey and I die,” he says, looking at the gap between his hands, which is now only a couple inches wide, “I want it to be the shortest.”

-Jaromir Jagr

Just ran across this. I thought it was really well written. Yes. It's from last season.

I couldn't find the entire article but it was a great intro piece.

Amazing to think it's been 5 years since Homer brought him back to the NHL on a $3.3m contract. At the time, a lot of people thought he overpaid for an old guy who couldn't handle the NHL anymore.

I wish they never let him leave. I didn't like it then and I still don't like it now. His work ethic and presence brought so much to this team. Its not a coincidence that Giroux and Hartnell had their best years playing with him.

You might be right but the Flyers were going in a more youthful direction and Voracek probably doesn't receive the top line minutes he deserves playing behind Jagr. With this said, I was fine at the time that we let Jagr walk, now I question the decision because we are missing leadership and consistent offense some nights. We probably would be closer to a Cup if we kept Jagr and stayed away from Vinny, Luke Schenn and RJ Umburger (two of the three names I actually liked). We took steps back by not trusting JvR, Hartnell and trusting both Vinny and Dan Clearly over Gagne.
