I just did a long piece on jimmy devalano and the end to the dead wings era...even he of hockeytown fame had his fair share of mistakes early on...imo, it's a part of the process...overall murray has done very well laying a foundation, just like devellano did, but it takes some time to learn how to be an effective gm

If we sign Vesey, then Murray gets a pass, and I'll figure it was assumed all along that he would sign here. But if he doesn't the fact that you traded a pick for a kid that spurned the team that drafted him and said that would wait until Aug 15th to sign with a team, is dumb

Lots of GMs would be canned right now, the whole NHL has been a dead zone for a while it seems. At least Murray has an "excuse", as he's force to wait until after the 15th to know about roster needs (and then later than that on Kane issues even).

Its not about the wins/losses in terms of value to me. Its about what we brought in is doing for our team. We gave up a lot for ROR, but hes been great for the team so I call it a win for us.

Im not going to get mad over moving a 4th rounder for a backup. These days the team makes the goaltender in most cases.

He traded Miller, Moulson and Ott for assets too and the Kane/Bogo trade enabled us to get Eichel. Not every trade works out perfectly, but anybody who thinks GMTM isn't getting re-upped is crazy.

Improved by 27 points last year - check
Got arguably the top UFA - check
Team will improve by 10-20 points this year also

RFA. Kevin Hayes, Justin Schultz, Mike Reilly, etc who have done this exact same route are all RFAs after their 2 year ELCs were done
