I think it's between the home team pull (Boston) and the best opportunity (Buffalo) for Vesey. He's a smart kid and Chicago doesn't make a lot of sense due to their cap situation. PIT is my darkhorse

On Vesey:

1 - I agree that I can't wait for the 15th to get this crap over with so we can move on a make (presumably) the moves we need to make while waiting for him.

2 - Why would he want to go to Chicago? He waits all of this time to pick where he wants to play, and then will be at their mercy in 2 years? They won't be able to pay him (if he plays well) what he'll want then, so he'll either have to sit out in a contract dispute, take a modest tender increase, or be traded to the team that will give Chicago the best return. Just doesn't make sense to me.

3 - I still don't think he signs here, but Chicago just doesn't add up.

If we sign Vesey, then Murray gets a pass, and I'll figure it was assumed all along that he would sign here. But if he doesn't the fact that you traded a pick for a kid that spurned the team that drafted him and said that would wait until Aug 15th to sign with a team, is dumb

I still think they need to hold on to him for one more season, however...barring a disaster in the courts...I think they should do the same thing with Moulson as well...and at the end of next season, if they move on from both, they just opened up $10M

the bit thing is that he's been saying all along that those two years are crucial to maximizing his next contract...being in Chicago with that kind of firepower fits right into his plans...I think buffalo wins out over Toronto and boston, but I don't think they can compete with Chicago or even pittsburgh

If he was going to be a UFA at the end of these 2 years, then yeah, Chicago would definitely be the place to go. But he'll still be an RFA, which means he'll be at their mercy when time comes to get his next contract.

Agreed, and IMO he sees what he could potentially have here, unlike with Toews or Crosby, he has played and talked to Eichel, so worrying whether he would be on a short leash as far as chemistry is concerned, shouldn't be an issue.

Not to mention, it hasn't been that easy for wingers in Pitt to get chemistry with 87. Just ask Neal, Hornqvist and Kessel

It is frustrating though how the rich always get richer, isn't it? It's exactly why I was on board with signing Stamkos. If you get your two or three elites in the fold, everything else will fall into place.

They will deal that issue when it comes to that, They could trade him in 2 years as well like they had to do with Saad, shaw, Leddy etc. Ride that ELC as much as they can if it gets them a cup

I just want to wake up in December to see the team is playing well (with or without Vesey) and Kane has not been arrested, suspended, subpoenad, or incarcerated and is on pace to score 30 goals....nobody will care about this crap going on now in this dream scenario.
