if the threat of a check forces a player to move the puck quicker than he wants to, thus resulting in a turnover. isn't that the same as hitting a player with the puck? the main purpose of hitting is to force turnovers... anything extra is just for fans to enjoy.

# of faceoffs won matter little if you ALWAYS lose the important draws. the faceoffs with 20 seconds left that result in a score, or a final powerplay that you need to win the draw. We always seem to lose those, because we don't have an elite FO guy.

I think he was signed specifically because of the Lindberg injury if I had a guess. Could turn into a 13th fwd when Lindberg is healthy..

translation please? I am definitely not an advance analytics guy. I appreciate the different ways of trying to analyze players, but don't get caught up in all the new terms.

And the players that do most of the hitting typically are not the most skilled players. if they had skill, they wouldnt have to hit. look at gretzky, I don't think he threw a hit once in his entire career. but he usually played with guys that would hit a lot.
