Although he killed it in Training Day I think it was mainly that Denzel was just that good that Hawke seemed better than he really was. Reality Bites, Alive and Dead Poets Society were really good, but not because of him. I think I may be the only person alive who hates Gattaca. Taking Lives was an underrated movie. The Purge was just plain awful. I did like him Lord of War though. Maybe it's when he's in a supporting role or a small part that I like him best. There's one where he plays a driver who's forced to follow some maniac's rules that looked horrendous that I never saw.

I hated Gattaca too, although to be fair to Ethan Hawke, the next coming of Deniro, Cranston, etc. couldn't save that flaming piece of poop.
